    Long Awaited Steam Update

Finally, the Steam update we have been waiting for. Valve's Erik Johnson has stated that on Wednesday, Steam will be updated. This update will include the offline/LAN play addition, that LANs have been waiting for, for a long time. Also some other nifty things such as the ability to purchase games via Steam and a new Half-Life 2 hardware survey. Erik also mentioned that during this update, Steam will be unavailable for approximately three hours.

I knew Valve wouldn't let us fellow gamers down. Hopefully we will hear some information about CS:2 soon.[break="Erik J's statement"]
There will be an update to Steam this Wednesday beginning at approximately 6:00am PST. Steam will be unavailable for the duration of the update, which is expected to last three hours.

This update will include the changes previously mentioned:
    • offline play

    • account validation (via e-mail)

    • a new half-life 2 hardware survey

    • support for purchasing games through steam
The Steampowered.com website will be available during the downtime window, and will be updated as status changes.

Good to see they got the LAN element working (or at least mostly... we'll see what it turns out like, heh). I'm still eagerly awaiting the radar fix, but in the meantime, gj VALVe. :)

the offline play would be nicer if we had bots tho. :)

Also there are many third party bots around.

That 3 hours of downtime might lead to the suicides of many diehard CSers. Then again 3 hours is time well spent waiting for this important update for Steam for the rest of us.

If someone kills themselves because they cant play cs, they need to die.

I know, seriously, where's the promised radar opacity fix?

And I think they took away the bots from regular CS 1.6 to make CZ more appealing and worth the money. :|

A survey done to see how good your computer speculations are to play Half-Life 2. Well that is what I had heard
