Local Clans Pros & Cons

zEx, also referred to as Zebra Extreme, has recently posted a rather captivating article based on the high and low points of local Counter-Strike clans. In addition, it also offers advice for those planning on starting one, and even to those who are already in a particular local clan.

There is a lot of difficulty involved in having a team of this sort. Lets begin from the "start". When deciding who to pickup for this team Titus and I went for a local approach. Being local has its pro's and con's, and I will describe most of those. We had the mindset that if we were local we would be able to progress as a team faster and with better quality.

I read but it was very short. I didn't get much out of it but I would suggest others read it.

What if HE was the one being cut after putting the team together. He wouldn't feel the same then. I agree that there is a certain quality and style you need to look for, but you need to communicate what you want properly too.



If there are more players than you need you can rotate your roster or fill in when you have to, plus you can scrim with your own team and hammer out more effective strategies.



In any case you gotta practice, and your members that suck need to be shown what they are doing wrong and what they are doing right so they can work on their noobism.

Local clans also have the potential to deteriorate a lot faster when you recruit someone 'local' into your clan of friends. I know because I was recruited into a local Connecticut clan and I went to CXG Buffalo with them and aimetti, incidentally, so he could play with zEx. It was a lot of fun but I know that I grated on our leader a bit just living with him for the weekend. If I hadn't gone that weekend then I might not have been left/gotten cut just because me and the leader pissed each other off. (It was a mutual decision btw)

I aim really to recruit people within 5-6 hours drive myself. Most of my team though is within a 2 hour drive, not really local, but we game an LAN together so we get close for the game.



Clans to play for fun might have an advantage. Who cares if they lose as long as they are laughing the whole time. :P
