a) no agp 4x is not your problem, if you set it to 8x the difference would be like 1fps



b) your processor is kinda outdated, i suggest you get a new motherboard and a Intel Pentium 4 "Prescott" 2.8GHz (800FSB) with HT Technology otherwise having a 9800XT is a waste of money because your outdated CPU is seriously holding back your graphics card, with that processor you mightaswell have a Radeon 9600XT, because that would give exactly the same performance as your 9800XT is giving because of your CPU bottleneck you have there



with that CPU you won't get higher than 30fps in Half Life 2, with a Intel Pentium 4 "Prescott" 2.8GHz (800FSB) with HT Technology you'll get like 50-80fps

my m8s got a 9600XT and hes gettin 100fps constant, if he put on developer 1 and set higher fps_max he would get like around 300fps with his system, but i hear developer 1 messes up with your actual performance somehow in cs

If your refresh rate goes over 100 (which most nice monitors do) then of course an fps of over 100 is very useful. Those are pilots, not normal people...you can train your eyes to percieve images much quickly and better, a very important thing to have for a pilot....

Still, if they can see 220fps don't you think normal people can see a lot more than 100? Especially those that have been playing computer games for a long time and have gotten their reflexes to be very fast.

i can't believe you payed $500 dollars for a 9800 xt! i saw one for $350, brand new, never been used, and in retail box. 9800 xt is barely an improvement over the 9800 pro anyways.

Yeah i could have gotten one on ebay for $350 - $400 but their shipping insurance only covers up to $200 so instead of being out $150 - $200, i would rather go to the store and pay retail so i know what I'm getting....

just make sure you do a bit of research on google.com and stuff to see whats the hottest processor out now, dont ask on a forum or something see for yourself, some people are biased and will say that any old piece a crap is good, you should check out the reviews of the processors and see how good they do in benchmarks
