its a bit like the recent steam update which included a much awaited typo fix in a map description.

Uh, the minimum resolution I can use in steam is 640*480, so I guess this applies to the old Won/half-life only? Not that I got any ATI card anway... :P

I'm beginning to hate nVIDIA. Maybe I should buy a 9800?

erm i still get the weird texture curroption weird jagged lines in textures on the walls... none of the driver updates seems to have fixed it yet. only seems to happen in fps games..., also i was thinking the other day, how come steam doesn't have a counter like won did telling you how many people are playing cs or half-life or tfc??? maybe cs is dieing which is why they aint put it in??? hacked to death game, ahh well cheers ati but you still have problems!!! i have a 9600xt btw:)

I have a 9800pro modded to an xt running 470/400 and with developer set to 1 you can get as many fps as you want ie. fps_max = 500 and at full res with these drivers and AL @ 4X and AF 16X I get on average 250fps also I have a P4 2.4c @ 3.2 :P I love to overclock, and my system is all water cooled. RADEON kick ass

if you don't have vsync off, then what you have done is completely useless.

Everybody knows that FPS over 100 is useless, but it just gives pride to the user who can get over 250 FPS constantly, because that's just what it's for. Who cares if there's no difference between 250 FPS and 100 FPS, as long as you know you CAN generate that many FPS?

                          ATI Said..

» Returning to the main menu in the game Counter-Strike no longer results in the game's refresh rate reverting back to 60Hz when resuming game play.
                          umm... that doesn't work either.

also, I have a 9800 xt and with AA @ 2x and AF @ 2x with vsync off developer 1, i get between 70 and 150 fps, 300 if i stare at a wall.max_fps is 1000. I was wondering why a $500 video card would perform so shitty on a 5 yr old engine? Does anyone else have this low of a framerate with their 9800 XT? My motherboard only has a max of 4x AGP, could that be my problem?

maybe you put the card onto a shitty computer? like if you have a 800mhz p3, then your results are going to be less than impressive. if you don't have a good processor (something in the range on 2.0 ghz or better), then don't buy a $500 card!!

                              p4 1.7 ghz

                              512 mb RAMBUS

But like i said, my max agp is 4x, so does that mean its only using half the cards power since it utilizes 8x?

yes, that's exactly what it means.
