I said "I like how..." again, I refer you to dictionary.com, for your incorrect use of the word chastise.
? I think I used it quite appropriately, please explain.

Secondly, I liked your argument too, put it back up. You might actually trick some morons into believing you're saying something rather than arranging random words in the hope of appearing intelligent if you use the built in spell checker
See, that's why I deleted my post, you are a hot ticket for a pointless flame war. No need, you like CS, I like CS, you dislike the new changes, fair enough.
    Tenreh wrote..

I wont bother making a case for this though, its hard to explain things to a chimpanzee. If you weren't 13 I bet you would vote for Bush.
Building insults into your arguments doesn't make them more valid, unless you're trying to be funny, but your not being funny, so the former applies. Saying I'm 13 and attributing a vote for Bush as a poor vote only talks to your own sense of ego, self-superioity and political standing.

    Anyway, here's my on-topic thought:

I like the new changes to CS. I do not think they give newbies the upper hand, if anything they merely present more challenges to those of us who have been playing for a long time. But that's me.

If you're denying it would be a poor vote then you have deeper problems then I previously assumed, friend.

Good job cleaning up your post there, I like the 'high-ground' kindof path your following, and I shall try to maintain that myself in the future.

As well, I never specifically said that the weapons changes would give newbs the upper hand, I'm saying only that they detract from the genuine pleasure of a skill-kill with a weapon thought of by everyone as useless.

Hey.. I've got an idea.. instead of breaking the great gun system and jumping system and aim system they have in the name of 'change' why dont they make a new freaking map? Oooooohh... No way! That's bad change man! We just need our glocks to do 750+ damage when we shoot someone in the ankle. That'll keep it fresh.
dumbass they have added new maps in past versions like 1.5 and no1 uses them so it doesn't really matter if u get a new map

I'm not, I'm just saying its irrelevant. I voted Gore, who is also irrelevant at this point.

And I like the as-yet-still-superior-acknowledgment of someone taking the high ground path you are following. I also like the fact you ignored me calling you on the "chastise" remark. Enough already though, I'm quite the hypocrite sitting here waiting for you to refute me.

Maybe, but I believe I'm open to make that inference? As for the skill-kills, they are what makes CS fun and a challenge. However, neither dualie or para change has been implemented so your argument is half hyperbole. Which was to be honest, why I posted initially, because the fact you haven't played since 1.5 lessens the weight of your argument in my eyes.

Again, the changes aren't 'in the name of realism', they're in the name of balance. Things like famas and galil and shield are in the name of new gameplay. Things like radar and sig/aug crosshairs are in the name of fixes.

As far as QuickDraw goes, I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you disrespect and ignore the rules of grammar, those who follow them will disrespect and ignore you. It's the way of the 'net. If you want to intelligently present your arguement, and actually have a chance of persuading someone of an opposing opinion to think your way, you do it intelligently and calmly.

If you just bicker, type illegibly, and make random insults, then people aren't going to want to listen to you much, much less agree with you. If you're going to waste time trying to say something, at least waste time trying to be heard as well. Type correctly or as best as you are able, stop insulting random people and saying 'newbie' or 'retard' every other sentence, and present your arguements logically and with evidence to back it up, if you can.

As far as your arguements, they aren't sound anyway. The shield needs addressing, simply because the Terrorists don't have anything like it, or an option to counter it that the CT's don't also have. But it isn't a 'stupid idea'. Auto snipers may need a slight nerfing, but they don't need to go all the way back to where they were before.

And have you looked at the para? It's accurate in 2-3 bullet bursts, actually, even at long distances, if you 'know the gun'. But when used as what it's supposed to be (suppressing fire), the accuracy and damage is so pathetic that you can pretty much run out and blast his head off with an AK anyway. Partly because the AK is overpowered, partly because the para's underpowered. So a tweak is a good idea. Just increasing the rate of fire so that you can stand toe-to-toe with an AK and kill him before he kills you might help. But I'm sure they have their own tweak in mind.

The idea is that a good para user will still die to an equally good m4 user. If you played against yourself, using different guns, the m4/ak will almost always win. So what's the point of having a para? This is what they're attempting to balance. Make the gun worth buying, so that people will actually buy it. But the idea isn't to make the gun the /best/, so that people /only/ buy it. I don't see what you don't get about this.

Perhaps because people are spamming the autosnipers now? It's just because they're fairly good, easy to use, and new, so people are still learning how to counter them. Awps are still better if you're good with them, and elite scouters can still cap the newbie autos. There's always the knife in the back as well, since they're in scoped vision.

However, I do agree that your counter-sniper options are fairly limited. Flashbangs are hard to accurately throw, and a good sniper can duck behind cover to keep his sight. Flanking may be out of the question, especially if the entire team is sniping. Moving in a group isn't an option a lot of the time, as in pubs, your group is too chicken to work together. Which is why the shield is such a good addition, for anti-sniping. Except this leaves the Terrorists in the dirt.

It still needs addressing, things need tweaking or fixing, and progress is good. If you're going to make an arguement, make it logical and sound and easy to read, or people who /do/ make that effort won't bother to read anything you type.
            Good Job!

And I posted initially because I'm a crotchety ol' veteran who wanted to rant about "The good old days" so I won't feel so out of the loop in my cs-retirement. And because I accepted all the other gameplay tweaks following previous versions as progress and evolution and never prostrated myself before the counter-strike gods and indulged in cs-comment-flamage.

However, I should correct myself in one area, I have played 1.6, and a lot of it, and I'm just about as good as I was in 1.5. When I said I stopped playing it I meant at home, because steam wont accept my cd keys. The LAN games are fewer for me these days, but definitely not forgotten.

The only reason I accepted this treacherous act by steam without a huge stink was that, at that time they were still telling us Half-life 2 was coming out in November.. And HL2 is gonna eat cs for breakfast.

I can just see Tenreh hopping around the map with the duals, trying to get long-range "skill kills". If you think games are about "Glory" then your issues go WAY past what we can help you with here on the web. You may need to address this with a professional counsellor. Just a hint -- games are about fun.

I'd also like to congratulate Quickdraw on actually making an argument based on facts in post #142 -- CS is based on covert-op scenarios. Some of the changes are newb, this is true (i.e. Shield), but changes do keep the game fresh. Maybe its the right time for you to move on.

your suggestion of me "moving on" is a much more irrelevant rant in comparison. just fyi: i will continue my ownage in cs whether valve's got the newbs back or not. they cant stop me. but i still just wish cs would stay true to its niche and that cliffe would give it a rest. come on, you cannot honestly disagree with me on that. who the fuck wants cs to turn out like another medal of honor type. stupid military-like games where it takes half a rifle clip to draw blood. *grr*

on the contrary. the cs community is growing. and valve are trying hard to keep the game interesting to play for current players as well as not making it too hard for newcomers.
Valve has delayed Condition Zero for over a year now and has delayed HL2 for about 8 months. In addition, the new steam engine requires twice the utilization from servers as its previous versions. Every time a steam update comes out, the steam network goes down. All servers running -autoupdate in its command line shut down and don't come back up until they are able to get that illusive update that is "supposed" to be released every week.

The only reason I would see any growth in the cs community at the time of the introduction of Steam would be because Valve relinquished all previous bans on all cd keys. This just allowed every previously banned won id (banned by VAC) to be put back into circulation thus allowing hundreds of thousands of people to obtain new steam id's on previously banned cd keys.

I'm not saying that change is bad, I'm just saying that some of these changes are newbifying the game to a ridiculous extent. If Valve wants to make these changes then they need to put in other checks and balances for these changes. The first thing they need to do is stabilize steam and the steam engine. Right now its all marketing and nothing to do with making the game more "playable". Steam was created strictly to help bypass Vivendi, lower cost on cd production and packaging and to help deliver a product directly to a lazy ass customer. These new weapons/shield and making older weapons easier to use is just a way to keep peoples minds off of how crappy steam (and its network) is at this time, the delays of other software, and an attempt to keep their great cs community
