    CAL-i Season 10 Week 1:1 :: de_nuke

    After a long three weeks, preseason has come to an end and the regular season is beginning. During a select few matches of preseason, the Cyberathlete Amateur League tested two new changes to its server configuration file, a bomb timer reduction of five seconds and a round timer reduction of thirty seconds in an attempt to create faster-paced matches. While the thirty second round timer reduction is going to stay in place for the regular season, the unpopular decision to shorten the bomb timer has been repealed.

    New to CAL-i are teams Formula 1, Forsaken, and Meepins, all winners of their conference from last season of CAL-m.

    CAL-i competition should be at a heightened level this season, due to a new 24-team limit imposed upon the division - lower tier Invite teams were moved down to the new CAL-p division. Combined with the shortened round time, these changes should make spectating CAL-i matches significantly more enjoyable. The incentives to play more competitively don't stop there, as teams may practice more to recieve the recently introduced prizes to the CAL-i champions.

    Tommorow's matches will give us a perspective of how a team has improved or slipped since the Winter CPL event. Some teams have undergone roster changes since their last season in CAL, with Forsaken being one example. CAL-i newcomers Forsaken may dominate this season as United 5 did last season; Forsaken's perfect record in CAL-m and a desire to show how they compete in higher divisions should catapult them to play exceptionally. The loss of star players in their team may hinder that effort, however.[break="match ups for tomorrow"]Start times, HLTV and scorebots (if available) will be updated when exact schedules are released.

            Good stuff but zEx deserves to be in Invite still; they made the playoffs. I don't care how many roster changes you make, if you make the playoffs in Invite, then you deserve to stay for at least 1 more season. You could cut everyone and recruit a brand new roster of me and the other 4 comment posters above me and you should still be given that much slack.

              I'm glad they put that bomb timer back up to the old. Time was already short enough that kits were almost a must on most defuses just to play it safe.
