I (foolishly) brought up the suggestion of taking out the auto-snipers and replacing them with more useful, realistic (as in gameplay) weapons like the HKG36 and others on the official CS Forums on counter-strike.net (forumplanet.com)...

And was politely told to "jump off a cliff" by the official moderators and even Cliffe himself who actually posted a while back.

I think that says it all.

As much as I like CS... It's lagging behind other, more recent shooters as it doesn't have a lot of features -- gameplay wise; not just graphically -- That make it a five year old game in every sense of the word.

I'm talking about features like going prone, iron sights, leaning, more realistic physics (for everything; movement; recoil -- no random spray and pray bullshit -- etc.), but as evidenced by Cliffe's response, they have no intentions of actually improving CS and are instead making it more for the preteens who primarily make up CS's userbase which means more luck based gameplay than skill and other things that again just keep proving how old CS is as both a concept and game.

This is relevant because each new update is just trying to basically "milk" what life CS has left in it like trying to make the underused weapons more appealing... But, ironically, doing the exact opposite in a lot of respects, or at least not doing it with any forethought to balance and how it really effects the gameplay in the end.

Will I continue to play CS?

Yes... But even as a casual, non-competitive gamer, I find my interest in CS just is not as high as other, more recent games (COD; Raven Shield; etc.) because the creators are not really concerned with creating a better, more challenging game and are just trying to sustain a game based on its initial success alone.

Actually, with the price cut, I think the berettas will be quite useful in the pistol round. You start with 40 9mm bullets anyway, so add 30 that you get when you buy the elites. There's also that extra power.

Why should they change the core gameplay of CS to be more realistic or to have features from more recent games, when CS2 is in the works and will likely have vast improvements in gameplay that have been suggested for CS.

As to the underused weapons, what exactly is wrong with the 21 guns besides the Colt, AK and AWP actually being improved and seeing more use? Are 'pro' or 'veteran' players really concerned about seeing more than three effective weapons in the game?

I would hypothesize that all those suggestions are good ones, which are more likely and more applicable to cs2. I think as far as VALVe is concerned, they can tweak out the shield bugs and balance the weapons in CS 1.6/CZ, but they are not about to try and redevelop a 5 year old engine code even further to build in all those extra features. CS2 will address that and more. Besides which people are bitching themselves to death over the tiny changes, never mind if completely new styles of gameplay (i.e. prone position) were introduced.

As for the argument they are making the game easier, I disagree. I keep hearing over and over again how they are making the weapons easier for newbies to kill the supposed "elite" with. It's all luck now? Bullshit. By making some useless weapons are more deadly, VALVe is increasing the challenge of CS to the older players you say they are ignoring. There is skill involved in staying alive as much as there is in using a weapon.... if you can't stay alive and blame your deaths on lucky noobs and VALVes new patches, perhaps you are not so leet after all...?

i can't wait to try this..

ever since the autosnipers were updated i use them fairly often now (about 1/4 as often as I use an ak/colt) and i expect to use the dualies more if they are significantly better.. as of before the update they just sucked though. in my opinion they should be better than the deagle, less damage per shot but only slightly, slightly less accuracy, but a lot more bullets :)

What does > Cstrike corpse popping fix < mean?

Also when will they fix killing someone at high range only lets the corpse fall about dust map height?

When will they fix server changes to maps you dont have timing out and giving you 'connect to server lost' messsages?

When will they fix CS closing when it cant get the WAD off the server? (for no apparent reason, some it does, some it doesnt).

When will they give hostages proper animations?

When will the mp3 player be built into all modifications (sven co-op stylee)?

When will you fix the wallpaper whiteness between the trigger on the CS background?

Looking forward to them fixing the "can't delete favorites" bug (omg my favorites list is full of match servers > ...)
A small Steam update has been released this evening. There aren't any game changes in this release -- it includes Steam client changes only.

Fixed a Friends bug which caused it to sign in to the Friends servers too often.

Fixed a bug in the Server browser where favorites couldn't be deleted.

One big issue my ex-clanmate keeps bringing up, they dwarfed the M3 pump shotgun, and I agree. The spread on the gun is horrible now unlike back in 1.5 if you aimed for the abdomen in close combat, you'd get the kill. Nowadays you rarely get the one shot kills in close combat like how you used to with the pump.

Its interesting to see a well thought out post like CSObserver's. I appreciate someone pointing out some of the aspects of CS that make it increasingly market oriented. I too continue to play CS informally, but I'm moving on to other things.

yeah lets make CS like all the newer shooters.. right. Hey guys this is why we play CS, because it isn't like all those new shit games with prone and iron sights and all that annoying, boring bullshit.

Oh its not boring to you? Well go play those games then and not CS. Keep CS like it is and change the guns and other small things is a great idea. It brings new things to an old game without drastically overhauling it. If they did that, it wouldnt be CS :P

T start with 60 rounds of glock, and default 800$

so you'd have dualies with 60 rounds, some servers give you more money.
What I meant was the dualies are still too expensive to buy in the first round because then the T's would be left with $0 and unable to buy anything else (flashes, etc).

if any of you kiddies understand that, this guy knows what hes talking about, making the autosniper what it is now (50hp per shot through several people + doors, no recoil etc) included no thought into how it would effect gameplay, do you seriously like to do a rush and the whole team getting spammed by one autosniper? i've done it numerous times easily, and it took no practice atall

if you could read my friend you would of noticed that he was not saying that they should not make recoil more realistic, but to actually make it more realistic, i know shouldnt be defending him but people who cant read and post are really annoying
