    The inference that the CPL deliberately set out to destroy CXG CS tournament has already been vigorously denied by the CPL:

    What is interesting is that CXG also screwed up the $15,000 Call of Duty tournament. Oh, and the RTCW tournament...

    And for a look at what went on behind the scenes, here's the POV of one of CXG's own admins...

      They did say that several tech groups failed to provide support earlier in the release, before implicating VALVe and CPL in sabotage.

      If you've been reading the CSN forums, or several other CS related sites, there are chat logs being posted that implicate the guy from CPL being in contact with VALVe, and requesting that VALVe release not one update, but four updates on the day of the Las Vegas CXG event. Also - it suggests that several sponsors and support teams backed out due to pressure from the CPL.

      <edit>

      BTW - Please don't take this as me defending CXG - they still suck at what they are trying to do.

        actually the ppl at cxg have a point where they were supposed too have someone from valve onsite for resolutions from what i read and somehow they didint show. so is it so unheard of that a competitor calls the bigwigz crying ie possibly cpl too valve. and valve for whatever reason complied so they say. but is that so far out there>?in fact it isnt and is possibly what took place so is this the reaction all competition is gonna recieve we shall soon see

        all im saying is it is plausable.

        im sure some of the issues where caused by non planning and the such

          Rofl at CXG, that's the most pathetic excuse, honestly. How could CPL possibly screw up their event?

            You're taking that a little far. Show some maturity, Will Ferguson does have brain cancer.

            I'm starting to get aggrivated with you.

                This bit is my fave. Vixen evidently thought "I'll be nice and make the culprit anonymous". But then changed his mind, and thought "naaaa"...

                The problems stemmed from a complete and total lack of ability of ONE individual in the head of cXg. It is my opinion that this one failing is what doomed this event before it started. Had I known of this individual's complete lack of ability at the outset, I would have left cXg. Not to mention that while we were working ourselves to death with 26 hrs of cabling, this said individual took off to go party in Vegas. I am utterly and completely disgusted. To name names, this was Recon. If he has problems with me calling him out, I certainly hope he can explain why when we were working so hard, he sits there like the lump he is.
                I hope that if Recon is innocent, the impending lawsuit will get full, unadulterated coverage at CSNation

                    I don't think they're blaming it on the CPL (although they sure imply that the CPL sucks, which is highly immature of them). I think they're mainly blaming it on VALVe, which is quite ***holic of them. Holding them "accountable for all issues associated with the failure to provide contracted and implied services," proves how unprepared they were. I don't see how Steam not working would cancel the entire event, including other games.

                    I can see they're pissed that the CPL had VALVe's support and not CXG, but I don't see how VALVe is responsible for the failure of the event. If they did a better job at planning, they should be able to cancel the CS competition smoothly, rather than just kill the whole thing (despite volunteers doing their best to fix it) and point fingers in a press release. Stupid cowards... Looks like this will be the final newspost on CXG, as they don't do CS anymore.

                              half-life2 has a lot to do with CS DeFade... Where would we be able to make custom models without HL2 SDK?
