    CS:CZ - The Evolution

Computer Gaming World has an article on the checkered development of that VALVe title we'd all love to forget, Counter-Strike:Condition Zero. They detail the progress of this single player edition of CS as it progressed from VALVe and through the hands of four different developers.
Hopefully next month we can bring you a full review, if the code has been finalized by then. For now, our short take is that Condition Zero is basically Counter-Strike with training wheels.
Wishful thinking? Who knows, but this interesting article will give us a way to pass the time while we wait and see. Take a look here.

I've never heard of a game that brought us all so many memories as this.....a game we haven't even played yet.

I'm confused, I thought the game was finished and the master copy was sent to Sierra for replication. Or, Sierra is finalizing CZ code?

"Dated graphics give these missions the feel of an amateurish mod rather than a campaign befitting the Counter-Strike name. When asked to comment, Ritual's art director hostilely declined."

No shit he declined, what a friggin dumbass-- they were forced to work with the engine, and they made some beautiful artwork with what they had available to them. This guy doesn't know shit. What's funnier is he doesn't even put down the use of 1.6's bland graphics for CZ.

This game still hasn't been canned yet?

            WEBMASTER!

Please stop posting useless crap about CS:CZ. IT's A DREAM! Kinda getting annoyed by the fact everytime I come visit this site you have another useless post about CS:CZ. I feel you should wait until Valve gets off their ass and inform us about why the P.O.S is always being delayed. Just jealous because you got to play it and I haven't.

Half-Life was made in 1998, Counter-Strike was made not too long after Half-Life was released. CZ is going to be released this year hopefully, and it still uses the crappy ass engine (graphic wise). Is something wrong here. And it took FOUR developers to develope the game, and so far, it's only Counter-Strike with training wheels. Sure it has new maps, but I'm sure they can be released as an official map pack. Ritual's new models were just awesome, but no wait valve decided that to NOT include em. What the hell? Conclusion? Get CSX.

I love the tasty irony of the advertisment link at the bottom:

                        "CounterStrike: Condition Zero. pre-order @ amazon.com"

And when you mouse over it:

"Fall 2002 - The new face of action - CS: Condition Zero"

The November release date on that article probably means November 2003, even though it was written on 1/1/04. :\

And the Ritual player and weapon models featured in the deleted scenes far exceed the 1.6 defaults. Not sure where the article got off dissing those graphics, which are quite good for the HL engine.

They should just kill CS:CZ and start working on Counter Strike 2, using the HL2 engine.
