PC Gamer has a review of Counter-Strike: Condition Zero in their January, 2004 issue. The reputable gaming magazine rates CS:CZ at 72%.

Highs: Very realistic bots, new and updated maps, bonus single-player missions.



Lows: You can play only as a Counter-Terrorist in the Tour of Duty, dated graphics, no developed story at all.



Bottom Line: A worthy substitute for Counter-Strike, but unnecessary if you've got broadband.

They mean for all those people who have a bad/no internet connection, this will give you a taste of CS without having to use the internet. Otherwise, you're better off with just regular CS.

Counter-Strike was meant to be an online fps. The only main reason CZ got an okay score is because of the lack of a full single-player mode. This does not mean that the gameplay is bad, but actually even better. When you play the game, you'll realize that it's the same CS we all know and love, but improved. Major changes to Counter-Strike can make the game a lot worse.

They're referring to the use of bots in what would normally be multi-player maps (Dusts, Aztec, etc).



I just look forward to being able to not play CS in 3 weeks and then play bots for a couple days and go pubbin.

I wasn't gonna buy CS:CZ since I played a leaked version of Ritual's levels. But from what I see from some of the pictures, there's a level (Hot dog stand?) that's in it. It might be worth a buy. It would be nice if Valve gave us the CS:CZ maps for use of multiplayer play in CS 1.6... give some variety over the dusts and aztecs and so on...



And to reply on someone's outdated graphics post: Of course the graphics are gonna be dated. the game is on a 5 year old engine, and some of the elements are older than that! (Since it's based off the Quake/Quake 2 engines...)
