Ok, what you're saying sounds like, well, since girls don't have the reflexes of guys, we need to make a league for people who suck. So any competition that women only will feature substandard play. Even though videogaming is a purely virtual game and has nothing to do with your physical makeup.



By your logic we should also have competitions that all-white or all-Asian (or all-black, or all hispanic, you get my drift), since Asians have better reflexes and blacks have a more efficient tendon structure right (presumably allowing them easier access to hard to reach mouse buttons)?

I've played with a female gamer who I considered my equal at Counter-Strike before, which has been a rare enough event. Most of the online "girls" are guys masquerading as girls, as any admission or claim of being a female results in (like has already been said) tons of idiotic CS players (you guys) attempting some sort of online flirting, if you can call it that.

This is still no excuse. This is a LAN event. If any dorks tried this shit with my gf at a LAN event they would go out on their ass.



And when I asked my girlfriend (who LOVES Half-life and Natural Selection) what she thought of this, this was her reply:

See, the basic fact is that this tournament is an opportunity to promote gaming among girls and women -- a HUGE demographic that gaming isn't really reaching in most senses. Microsoft, and many other gaming companies for that matter, are looking to tap that market, and a competition may help do that. There isn't really a lot more to it than that...



I say "may" help because I don't think that a tournament is the right way to reach that demographic but we'll see.

these issues are just big fat barrels of....gah shit, something dangerous when you open it. anyway, i think it'd be nice if we could just all play in the same leagues and bypass the arguing and the page-long comments on why or why not this and that...but we can't, cause both sides are right as far as i know. its unfortunate, but as long as there's still the usual leagues the only problem people have with it (and the reason it ticks a lot of people off, i imagine) is that they can't get in.

It's been proven in studies for a long time. Guys are just more visual than girls. I did a version of one of the studies in a Psych class in HS. The teacher would say "draw what a die (single dice) would look like if you put it down with the 5 facing the ground." and you'd draw it all 3-dimensional and shit and then she would repeat it w/ ''the 4 facing away from you'' etc etc.. hope you all got that kind of confusing--well anyway the guys (ON AVERAGE, i think NightHawk did a very good job of making sure we got that =] ) did better.

okay this is going to sound funny, and I"M NOT TRYING TO OFFEND ANY GIRLS, but - Special Olympics. Once again this is an exageration to prove a point. but Can they compete w/ the non-handicapped? No. So for their own benefit they have their own competition. This is exactly like the WNBA, WUSA, etc thing I brought up earlier. While it may be substandard to most guys/elite uber CSers, it will probably be very competitive for the people involved.

It is quite simple for CPL to create a Female only.



Sure most are for man and women. But think about it. Most of the Games Hosted have mostly all men. Now I bet you if one average looknig girl decided to go to one. She would be hitted on or even harassed because she was the only girl there. Not many women go to these thigns. So if we had a women only they would feel more relexed. That's just my though.

Your natural mental tendencies and structure have nothing to do with your physical makeup? You are sorely mistaken. On the physical level, females have, for instance, a great deal more connections between their left and right brain hemispheres. This physical difference alone is held by experts to explain differences in verbal, multitasking, and concentration ability.



Males on average have been proven by studies to exhibit more activity in their left brain hemisphere than on their right, where as women tend to be more balanced in neuroactivity. The left hemisphere is associated with the logical, mathematical, and spacial abilities. Yes, these are the same abilities that are immensely important for playing CS.



So yes, perhaps overall it will be sub-standard play compared to the very top male gamers. However, that doesn't mean it's not still highly competitive, and most likely at a higher level of play than most of us around here can manage.

While there are physical differences between races, the areas these affect honestly have not been shown at any point in time to be the same skills as are necessary to play CS. Sure, Native Americans and Asians tend to react quicker to alcohol, for instance. That's a physical difference in our genes. However, whether or not you can hold your liquor is totally irrelevant to CS tournaments.



Want to have a drinking competition? Then you might be able to play the race card. Honestly, though, the differences between each race are extremely minor by comparison to the many proven differences between men and women.

Does she complain about it when she can't go into the men's room to pee? Why do people have such a hard time realizing that "different" doesn't mean "worse" or whatever. "Segregation" just means putting into segments (or categories). Yes, this term was used for the abuse and mistreatment of racial minorities in the past. Somebody has to stop and realize, however, that there is a big difference between not allowing a black woman to sit on a bus, and having an all-women league for any given event.



Personally, I can't wait for the all-male Scrabble competition. I'm tired of my mom always outplaying me whenever I visit my parents.
