I'm using that very update of ZoneAlarm and I'm not experiencing any problems at all. I find ZA much better than Norton's but I have yet to try McAfee's offering. Cheers!

I use ZoneAlarm and it's always on with high firewall security. That guy probably just has a crap system and it overloads his memory.

ZoneAlarm pwns j00!! Norton is crap, it takes up too much memory.
Thanks - no crap system here. And it depends on what version of NPF you are running - 2004 SUCKS. I use 2003. Doesn't take up too much memory - ghosts all my ports and my IP. I used to get trojan attacks all the time with ZAP because it didn't ghost my IP address. With NPF I might get one a 3-4 a month, and now that I've added my Lynksys I haven't had any.

Besides how would a system effect how a firewall worked in stopping/preventing attacks? If it's running, it should be working - not letting people see all my info like ZAP did. I used high security too - ran several online security checks and every one of them could see browser, username, IP, what ports were open, etc... Might want to try that with yours. Norton, and several others, are tighter than a baby's arse (don't ask how I know - please).

<edit> I did switch back at the beginning of '03. Maybe ZAP has improved since then?

My crappy computer as enough memory and as said by T|2i|34L it can't be the cause of the problem. Updating ZA firewall 5 minutes before and having a lot of post in their forums about the same problem could be however.

Some posts reported that playing CS in window mode is unaffected by the update, this could be why you have no problem. Maybe you have a version without the problem (I know for sure only for the free product ZoneAlarm which I have).

Edit : forgot to say I have CS 1.5, maybe the wonderful Steam is unaffected.
