    GameSpot CSX Review

GameSpot has reviewed Counter-Strike for Xbox. In the end, the game recieved a 7.2 (or "Good") rating by the gaming website. Here's a quote from one of the more negative sections of the review:
At a glance, the no-frills, bare-bones production of this version of Counter-Strike is readily apparent. The visuals are touched-up from the PC version's, yet they're certainly not overhauled. Some of the textures in the environments are nice, but the level architecture itself is simple. The game runs at a consistent--but none-too-smooth--frame rate, which will throw off CS fans who are used to the silky smooth frame rates of the PC version.

Some unsightly graphical glitches, such as very choppy death animations and the occasional floating corpse, are evidence of the game's home-brewed roots and this port's lack of polish. Weapon models and effects are plain, but the weapons don't even take the names of their real-world counterparts (just like the retail PC version of Counter-Strike, released a few years ago). The characters look fine from afar, and their animations aren't bad, but they're really nothing special.
It seems that GameSpot thinks the port lacks over-all quality.

Earlier today, GameSpy gave CSX a 4/5 rating and we previewed the title. CSX will be released tomorrow, the 18th.

How horrible, you mean you might not have to re-learn the sounds of all the guns?

I'm not surprised to hear a negative review, every game gets at least one. What I really cannot believe some of the remarkably stupid flamewars taking place in the Gamespot forums over this. It seems that Xbox fanboys are really trying to say that CS for Xbox is superior to the PC.

Xbox - 32 bit textures, cool buy menu, and thats about it. Only 11 maps! Animation errors.

PC - customizable out the @SS, sucky textures, animation errors (I still get floating corpses and flying people occasionally), MILLIONS of maps. Faster, smoother video performance.

Both have ups and downs - but I just can't believe some of the idiots on there posting retarded stuff about PC's and Xbox. Overall I'm sure it will still be fun to play - I'll probably buy it, although not right away. It all comes down to this:

Finally CS is available for people who can only handle pushing 1 button to play. Power. (The many stupid fanboy comments support this theory)

You can't? You might not have heard of them, they're called people. You also might not have heard what they're using, it's called the internet. It's a horrible combination.
