Hello, and welcome to a new week and a new edition of newsbits. Today, we've got these stories lined up for you:
    • as if to prove that someone's still alive over there, valve's yahn bernier has been interviewed by hlgaming. it's short, it's about the original hl, but it's from valve dammit! chatty goodness.

    • here's another local lan for you - gibfest x: bucket o gibs. this charmingly titled event will run on january 30th, 31st and february 1st next year, so get over to the site and sign up.
That's it. I'm off to feed DchozN - he's locked in my basement. No more newsbits posting for you my restrained little friend! They're mine now!

I shudder to think what you two might be doing down there...

Not an amusing interview at all, but hey, it's something. Seems more like it should be dated in like... '99 or something, though. I have to wonder how many HL fans are going to run out and try to find a copy of Stephen King's "The Mist" now, heh.

            Ever seen Pulp Fiction?

Anyways, that Valve interview was a bit "meh", but it was still moderately interesting.

                    Here I go...

I think this is a really interesting (although short) interview. Retrospect is really important in understanding what led to what has happened since. It sounds like the makers of HL were given a great deal of creative leeway, and consequently came up with something entirely different.

At the same time, they had real constraints to work within (such as the choice of engine) which likely limited their options for the look and feel of things.

                    Interesting reading...

What's sad, street, is that I was thinking exactly the same thing after reading that post. *shudders* Sooo nasty.

Ah well, at least the dialogue was really great in that movie.
