CAL-i Season 9 Semifinals :: de_inferno

The semifinals of CAL-i's ninth season are upon us. Tonight, two of the most exciting matches of the season are ready to be played. After Thursday's packeting attacks on the matches, teams will have to be extra careful when playing these matches. It would be unfortunate for this year's playoffs go even worse than last year when zEx was cheated out of a chance by packeting attacks.



The first match will be between two of the division winners as 3D takes on u5. This is a very exciting match as both of these teams had winning streaks of over ten games in the regular season. Both of these teams had fairly comfortable victories on Thursday. The boys of u5 took out shock in commanding fashion losing just four rounds. Expect the team that wins here to win the whole league this season. If history is any indication, 3D did beat u5 19-5 in week seven. That match was played during one of u5's worst stretches of the season though.



TSG will also be taking on e7 tonight. The Cinderella story of both the CPL and the playoffs, e7 will have to face the #1 seeded TSG. Both of these team's last matches were close, with TSG even going to overtime against SYB. Already, e7 has pulled off a big upset against another division winner, Rival. With that win, e7 has won eleven straight matches and even TSG will be hard put to stop that streak. When these teams met in the regular season, e7 came out on top 14-10. Here are some predictions:



3D > u5 13-10



I expect u5 to put up more of a fight this time, but not enough to pull off a win in the playoffs. If there are no packeting problems, I think 3D will pull off a narrow win here.



e7 > TSG 16-14



It's hard to predict the #1 seed getting knocked out but I think it's going to happen tonight. e7 has been more than hot the last almost two months. TSG has had a bye and a match against SYB which e7 has beaten EG and Rival. This match should be extremely close and could be determined by just a few small mistakes.

I say this. Play in secret or risk the packeting. Someone wants to disrupt these matchs, they'll do so if they get any info.

Moreover, it shouldn't really be that hard to play in secret, and still have all those wonderful things that people enjoy, like HLTV.

actually it is a lot harder than you think to have HLTV while playing in secret. Through HLTV you can find the name of the player, search the name on www.gametiger.com and find the server and stuff and packet away. Playing in secret and then putting up a demo would be the best choice. But we'll see what CAL and the teams decide to do.

Just give ppl the wrong HLTV to throw them off, and have them play under diff names so the gametiger thing won't work, then just post demos afterwards....

No need to even post fake HLTV ips. Just say there is no HLTV to prevent packeting and have the matches played in secret. Afterawards, post demos and all that lovely stuff.

Or even simplier. Play under an alias and have one or two HLTV specs recording demos. Release the HLTV demos.

You dont packet flood the server, you packet the individual. If you did the server, you would affect everyone. You need the individual IP of the person you are trying to lag, otherwise you aren't cheating for either team.

I really hope they can avoid playing in secret. The spectator aspect of CS is, in my opinion, an important and valuable one and making the matches secret could seriously disrupt this.
