November fever is upon us. Well, fine nobody is going to school or work in their team colors but the CAL-i playoffs are still here. Tonight the first round finally gets underway with the wildcard teams hooking up.
The match that is probably the most interesting is between the #6 seed e7 and the #11 seed EG. These teams are both LAN proven as e7 had an exceptional performance at the CPL this summer and EG just got back from the WCG championships in South Korea. e7 is red hot coming into the playoffs with a nine game winning streak.
The division winners TSG, 3D, Rival, and u5 get a breather tonight. They all get byes to the second round and will start off their playoff runs this Thursday.[break="For the match ups, start times, scorebots, and HLTV ips click here"] #5 shock (12-3-1) vs. #12 ICE (9-6) - 10:00 Eastern
This is shock's first chance to prove their worth. They have never been in the CAL-i playoffs before. They lead their division all the way until the end when TSG made up their matches. If shock wins then they will face u5 in the second round while if ICE is the victor they will take on #1 TSG. Either way, all of these wildcard teams will have a very touch match ahead of them in the second round.

#6 e7 (12-3) vs. #11 EG (9-6) - 10:30 Eastern
It's too bad that one of these teams will have to kicked out in the first round. They are both great competitors well deserving of their playoff spots. If I was to choose one wildcard team to make it to the third round, I would choose e7 as they have been unstoppable as of late. They are one of only three teams to beat TSG this season and they also have a solid 17-7 win against EG in week 8:2.

#7 TEC (11-5) vs. #10 RDW (9-6-1) - 9:30 Eastern
Along with shock and TSG these are two more of the Gamma division teams making the playoffs. This was the toughest of the divisions and even fourth place team RDW, which went 5-1-1 in their last seven matches, has some big wins. In their first match of the season, RDW beat TSG 21-3. They also tied 3D 15-15, though TEC won their match against 3D 15-9. Head to head, TEC won their match 16-14 in overtime. This will be a very exciting match with both of these teams having the potential to move on and so some damage in the latter rounds.

#8 zEx (10-6) vs. #9 SYB (10-6) - 10:00 Eastern
After their midseason roster overhaul and 18-6 loss to DZ midseason, it looked like zEx might miss the playoffs after getting to the finals last season. But they stormed back late, and even threatened u5 for the division title for a little while. SYB has been solid all season. Two of their most exciting matches were close losses, 13-11, to Rival back in week four and eight. This should be a close match the winner of which will probably have to take on Rival or 3D in the second round.
