Frank Nuccio of the Cyberathlete Amateur League has released a statement today partially removing the ban on the Riot Shield for the remainder of this season, and completely removing the ban for Season 10. The implications of this are yet unknown; many people still report shield hitbox distortions, and shield exploits still remain. I doubt any teams will risk their playoff matches by agreeing to use an item that hardly anyone has practiced with for league play yet, but we'll have to see.
With the shield now fixed in CS Steam 1.6, teams now have the option to purchase and use this item in CAL. Since the shield was not viable during the regular season we have decided that both teams in the playoffs must agree upon it's use. Upon the conclusion of the playoffs, teams can purchase the shield without the agreement of both teams. The shield will be legal during CPL match play.
