When I installed SP2, it made it so that XP would lock during initial boot and I couldn't get past it. It would lock during driver load on AGP440.sys - only way to get around it was to format/re-install. I have all the updates up to SP2, but not SP2 until they fix it.



As far as Steam goes - I can't connect to the master server, so I get no server list. But, I can still see the servers on my favorites list. I haven't tried connecting yet.



And who the hell came up with the brilliant idea of removing the Exit and Logout option? That's the lamest idea ever.



Normally I don't mind these updates - they're kind of like a visit to the dentist - you do it because you have to and then you move on, but this seems to have completely broken everything.



I'm sure they'll fix things soon .. just irritating. Oh, well - off to Desert Combat.

My problem is now a known issue. I have an Intel Pentium 4 3.02 Prescott. The problem is with the Prescott based processors, both P4 and Intel Celeron.



This is dated 09/14/04 - AFTER the "release version" was put on Windows Update.



Next time know your issues before you open your mouth.

Valve might just be a big computer game maker to ya'll but realise they are human. They have to sleep, they can make errors. they test the updates on optimized machines. not all of us have completely optimized machines. I wasn't able to play cs nor day of defeat last night so i just turned the computer off and read a book. try it, i heard it makes life a lot less mundane.



plus ifit wern't for valve you all would be playing quake or even worse unreal tourniment. so lets just stop talking bad about valve and lets praise them for giving us hours of entertainment.

I'm not one of the 17%. I'm gonna remain one of the 67% without SP2 until the bugs are worked out. Consumers are wiser that what Microsoft thinks. Once bitten twice shy!

I'm sorry I just can't sit idle while ppl say good things about Mircosoft. BTW, does everyone know that most of your major electronics stores were shipped hundreds of cd's from MS with SP2 on it. With instructions not to put out in plain site. But, someone asked about SP2 they can get one for free..

Who cares? It's probably good that the average BestBuy'er doesn't go pickup a SP2 disc and install it. The average BestBuy'er or computer user in general doesn't even know SP2 exists, or what it does.
