It looks like this is what the CAL-i season nine has boiled down to. These last two matches this week are all that is left in the regular season. The matches are going to be some of the most exciting of the season as one point can mean the difference between playing in the playoffs or just watching them. The map for tonight is the revamped de_cbble so you can be sure to expect some big wins.
One of the most anticipated matches since u5 was moved up to CAL-i is their match against 3D. This is CAL's match of the night and it has definitely earned that honor. 3D has the most points in the whole league, even though they have played two less matches than some teams. Until last week's matches on de_comrade, u5 was also yet to be beaten, but their performance last week was very disappointing as they dropped both matches. This map should be more familiar for them, so expect a very tight match.
Another one of the most important matches is TSG vs. shock. TSG has won five straight and with shock losing to 3D last week, TSG is only behind them by two points in the Gamma division. The biggest surprise all season has been shock and if they can win tonight, they will have clinched the division for the first time in their history in CAL-i.
CAL's schedulers did a good job of looking over past performances when choosing their matches for this last week. Earlier this season, after zEx changed most of their starters, they had a very close 16-14 loss to 3D. But this was followed by an 18-6 blowout by DZ. Tonight though, zEx gets a chance to get their revenge as they are matched up against DZ in a match that could decide second place in Omega division behind u5.
There are a few other interesting matches out there. TSO will take on WEW, both of these teams were CAL-i powerhouses a few seasons ago, but are now reduced to miserable 4-10 records. A complete mismatch is e7 vs. TAU, in which CAL has really not given TAU much of a chance at a win against an e7 team that has gone undefeated in the second half of the season. Agent has also really turned it up down the stretch so TEC should watch out for them.
Note: 3DO died yesterday following their four consecutive loses. It is unfortunate to see a clan with their potential leave the CAL-i scene but I would just like to wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors. ICE will be receiving a 13-0 forfeit win which will improve their record to 9-5 for the season.[break="click for match ups"] e-- (4-9-1) vs. BiO (5-8)
