    Turtle Rock Studios Interview

HomeLAN has an interview with Michael Booth of Turtle Rock Studios. Just in case you have only just woken up from a coma. Turtle Rock Studios is the latest company to be working on Counter-Strike: Condition Zero (and has already finished it). It is a good interview with some interesting stuff, here is a taster:
HomeLAN - Will any of the features you added into Condition Zero be added to the free version of the game?

Michael Booth - Valve has an update planned to release prior to the launch of Condition Zero that will give the current CS community the code updates in CZ, so CZ and all CS players will be one, even more giant CS online community. In additions to various tweaks and fixes and insuring compatibility, the update will also include interface updates and other functionality enhancements. However, the new content and all single player gaming modes are exclusive to owners of CZ.

Interesting. But it almost says nothing.
I am very pleased with what we were able to create in such a short amount of time.
I’m also excited about the things we have planned for CZ in the future.
oh noo, we'll get 10 patches a week.. but wait, we got Steam! and a content server in this city!
Say goodbye to game patches forever--they're a thing of the past.

I think valve should have pulled a id/enemy territory a LONG time ago, and just released what they had for free... I dont see how CZ can ever live up to anything after all this time...

I also cant imagine that valve will ever be able to recoup the expenses/development costs after so many developer changes...

Has anyone looked at the "official" CZ site lately? It hasn't been updated since 1986. I thought the Militia player model was the best. You could like have a goatee and shoot people. Bitchen.

This says that there's a [major] update planned within the next couple weeks! Don't forget that CZ just went gold, so that means it will hit stores before too long.

Umm... this is sounding like it should definitely be free. The only thing not being released is single player.. which is really just bots which will probably end up being for multiplayer too... ugh just release it all for free after a month and screw over the purchasers.

First thing valve needs to do, is fix the fact that steam lan games/single player need internet "oops"

At the moment, no one can really complain that it is "hurting" them because they arent forced to steam as long as they can still play on the old won based system...

once they release CZ, (which is ironicly a single player game that most would assume is geared primarily towards those without broadband and have dialup...) and it requires a netconnection to play it...

yeah, then the shit will hit the fan...

                  Good interview.

I believe Turtle Rock Studios has turned CS:CZ into the only thing it can be, which is round-based play with small objectives.

That's what CS is, round-based play. Ritual turned it into something different, and I'm glad VALVe made the decision to go with TRS.

How soon people forget that single player/LAN play without Internet will be implemented into Steam... eventually.

That, and CZ wont have the same barriers that CS 1.6/Steam has.

Seems the bots are included in the "new content"... damn it, the bots were the best thing in CS1.6 Beta. I miss them!

As for CZ.... will I be paying for a cache file and a cdkey?

Im not forgetting anything, I'm just saying that they would be smart to have it fixed by the cz release.

And what makes you think that cz will have different rules in steam than the current HL1 content? steam is steam, there wont be a cz steam, and a steam for everything else...

CZ is a SINGLE PLAYER game. It's not lan with bots, such as CS was. therefore the same rules WILL NOT APPLY
