Actually Dod retail is the same as the version u can donwload for free. The graphics are the same. Speaking of which, why have the DoD team been good enough to re-do the graphics for free, but valve are too cheap to do that for CS. Look at default DOD- it looks a million times better than CS.
From what ive heard, the multiplayer is that of CS 1.6. For example, think DoD and DoD retail. DoD retail = the same, with some updated visuals.
ALSO: WHY THE HELL don't Valve stick ALL of Gearbox' and Rituals work along with the Turtle Rock work? That way everyones happy. And most importantly, the f**king new models are there!Comment

rizzuh is just closed minded and he has admitted it before. I'm surprised he doesn't ban everyone that has an opinion different than his.
In any case, you are missing the point rizzuh. All that innovation and creativity is fine and dandy, but its not fine enough for $40. I could go buy GTA Vice City twice for that ammount. Now that game is TRUE innovation. I might at least consider buying it for no more than $25, but with a $40 price tag I doubt I'll see it for a year or more. Especially since I don't pirate games like a lot of these asshats here.Comment

i myself happened to be one of the lucky few with the ritual version of cz - my oppinion: ritual has made this game amazing, i dont know if turtle rock will be able to live up to what ritual has created whereas turtle rock seems like they just added a super high def pack for the models and textures and nothing else new - on the other hand, ritual has added new, better looking models in nice high detail with new sounds that are easy on the ear and let alone realistic
its going to be quite a feat if turtle rock comes out on top in the end...Comment

did i ever say it would/would not be a good game? I'm not arguing in circles at all, I've said that its not innovative, and theyre trying to sell it using the halflife name, and people will buy it because people like you say its new. Yes, pooling ideas can make a game good but adding one or two new features hardly counts as a worthy expenditure of $40 does it? especially as you can play against people, who are better than bots, for free (though I guess they might change that too)
With all of that, how can it possibly be a good game? How could it possibly sell? You're arguing yourself in circles. Get a point and then a clue.Almost everything is new because not once ever has there been tony hawk gameplay in a few person shooter. How is that not innovative? How are talking bots not innovative?
actually there has been, Ive played a few quake 1/2 mods that had similar gameplay styles. Besides, would you pay for airquake? THATS a new gameplay. would you pay for the platform q1 mod? or q1 navy seals? (after all, halflife uses the q1 engine, cs uses it, so does cz)
talking bots.. podbot with windows XP voice synthesiser (someone did it as a coursework project).Besides, it's a totally new product, unlike Half-Life Platinum Pack 24. This is not milking the Half-Life francise. Half-Life isn't even in the title. Milking CS's popularity? Maybe, but you weren't bright enough to even use that tact.
A good example of a totally new product using the same engine is Anachronox, not CZ (and yes I know that was a different engine, before you start saying i should use different tacts, the principle holds through though)
its a totally new product using the same weapons, virtually the same gameplay, and free bots. halflife may not be in the title, but you'd have to be stupid to think CS didnt use HL. And I was bright enough to assume that implicitly. How exactly is it an entirely new product by the way? If I decided to release q2 with all the updates, is that an entirely new product too? how about if I released quake1 with the reaper bot.. or a bunch of mods.
by your definition, fusion pack is also an entirely new release, it changes CS slightly.
Im not saying I'm right, and im not saying it couldnt be a good game. I'm just saying theres absolutely no way its worth $40.Comment

The Bazooka/etc in DoD is only any use for blowing up tanks.. its really ineffective for use against infantry. Yeah its a shame that DOD removed bleeding- I'm one of the many people on the dod fourms pushing the dod team to put it back in, whenever theres a thread on it.
DoD adds rocket launches
CS refuses to add them.
DoD took away bleeding.
CS is considering adding bleeding.
DoD slimmed down it's HUD.
CS is bulking up its HUD.
When will we live in peace?
Pharlap- I too think its a shame how CS is no longer about simulating Counter-Terrrorism, and is much more deathmatchey. Oh well, heres hoping that the realistic CT mod for HL will be good!Comment

i've heard and seen how Ritual's version of CZ was like, and I couldn't agree more that it doesn't give the player a "CS" feel. It plays a lot more like shoot 'em up game than CS, which requires teamwork and etc. You would find yourself fighting alone most of the time, and after each mission, it feels like the same damned thing. However, the models definitely over kills those models that we have for CS 1.6. They're definitely gorgeous.Comment

If it's not worth the money, then how is this product just an attempt at Valve getting loads of cash? If all they wanted is money, they could have spent the two years making a game worth the money.
I'm just saying theres absolutely no way its worth $40.
Again, no good point from you. If you think the game is bad, great. If you think that Valve just went to Turtle Rock for the cash, great. But if the game is bad, people won't buy it. Your two points completely contradict each other.
Attack the game. It's not my place to defend it. Lay off attacking the company. It may be a business, but its a business that has given us more free stuff than any one else and to say that they're in it exclusively for the money goes agaisnt four years of history that includes TFC, DMC, ricochet, years of patches, the SDK and everything else Valve has released for free.Comment

thats just a retarded point, theres no use in me even bothering to point out all the flaws. just look at microsoft.

once again you manage to completely miss the point, hence why you didnt see it? I havent said whether the game is good or bad. I've just said its essentially free stuff packaged together and being sold.
THERE IS NO GOOD OR BAD IN THAT STATEMENT, AS IVE SAID MORE THAN ONCE.Attack the game. It's not my place to defend it. Lay off attacking the company. It may be a business, but its a business that has given us more free stuff than any one else and to say that they're in it exclusively for the money goes agaisnt four years of history that includes TFC, DMC, ricochet, years of patches, the SDK and everything else Valve has released for free.
tfc: from quake 1..
DMC: from quake 1..
richochet, ok you got me there.
years of patches = fixing bugs that werent supposed to be in the releases anyway (a testing issue; hence they didnt do their job properly?)
sdk = something virtually EVERY game company released, especially one with an engine specifically designed to be quite modular; the q1 engine, which already had a whole collection of things like that.
Besides, once again youre missing the point, Im not criticising the company as a whole, or halflife or the patch system, or the mods. I was only commenting on CZ. do I have to go reiterate the main point now? well ok:
we bought halflife, we got CS.
now we're expected to buy halflife again because they changed like 2 things in it, which are pretty much free online anyway.Comment
