A little off topic, but if you check out the ritual forums, they sure seemed "dissapointed" for a lack of better words, at having their work become deleted scenes. I really didn't think the new models looked that great anyway.

If you want new models that badly, there must be dozens of high-quality custom ones out there.

Thanks for the excellent coverage, Rizzuh.

I have always liked the graphics. They don't look as dated as some newer games. But in all honesty I am going to wait until it's loaded on my pc and I have played before I jump to any conclusions. Valve have already shown that they have no scruples about pulling a release if previews are looking bad for their games. Who else has ever done that?

Best way if you ask me. At least it will be given the going over that it so badly needs.

        Roll on Nov 18th!

$40? nahh.. i didnt think theyd try to take the piss THAT much.. paying $40 for a game we all bought 5 years ago for more than $40 (like £40..) + a mod thats free to download + bots that are free to download (essentially) + some textures which, suprisingly enough, there are a lot of that are free to download. + having to wait like 2 years for it

+ having to use the 5-7.

is having to use the 5-7 in certain missions enough to warrant paying $40? no, but the administration involved in changing developers 25 times is. so we'd paying for a product that nobody really made, and a bunch of free stuff.

dont even get new models, as the same people point out 20 times in each thread.

you can get sensible soccer, atomic bomberman and hl+opfor+blueshift+10k-free-mods-online for like.. £5 well maybe 10...?

leetest multiplayers ever, varied environments, fantastic gameplay, multiple game modes(>tony hawk) and good storyline > cs+bots

Anyway, like rizzuh, I've never really had any negativity towards the graphics in CS. I don't mind them, because the game is still fun. I guess it's the same deal with CZ.
Good Game = Gameplay > Graphics. 'nuff said.

hah rizzuh you make it sound as if they changed the game because you wanted it changed.

the graphics in cs are fine and they won't outdate in a long time. i'm very happy with them. however, if you bring out a new game, it should offer new things, and not only in gameplay, but also in graphics. considering they already made these new graphics, i think it's silly not to use them. the gameplay might be very good and i find the bots appalling, however i don't like having to headshoot a terrorist with a deagle in a so called realistic counter-terrorist game. gimme a campaign, damnit!

Does anybody know of any other Previews of the new gold version of CS:CZ on any other sites besides CS-Nation? It's not that I didn't like the CSN one it's just that the other previews might say something different about CZ, plus they might have some new screen shots as well.

the bots = perfection - couldn't hope for more

I still like the old skins, but they are getting a little...old

I like ritual's skins (the leet skin was crap)

I REALLY liked gearbox's skins and the fact that you were supposed to be able to change the faces and such.

It would be cool to at least add another class like american militia or Russians & Japanese...maybe in an update.

Oh well, if valve says that the new models don't work then they don't work - they have been busy enough lately.

btw...if they touched up Nuke I wonder if they lowered the floating box ;D

I'm more interested in finding out why the Gearbox version was apparently so bad. Comments from anyone who actually knows would be helpful.

And by "knows" i don't mean someone who can make wild guesses and accusations.

Actually, in the screenshots, other than the maps, the models look like they've been polished a little bit, but that's just me. I think Ritual was taking Counter-Strike in the wrong direction. If you look at Ritual's other work, the only main successful game they made was Star Trek: Elite Force. They over-worked CZ to the point where it just didn't feel or look like CS anymore. I don't care if CZ has been delayed 2 years. Hey, look at Half-Life 2, after five long years, going six, Valve has made one of the most best looking games period. Rizzuh is right, don't we all want CZ to be "fun". If you don't know Valve yet, they won't release a game until they are completely satisfied with it. Now, Turtle Rock Studios' work is "simple and fun". The new version of CZ will bring all sorts of challenges that will actually test your skills. So, everyone skip paying this month's bills and go pre-order Condition Zero now!

I havent really been into learning about CZ, or playing it at all even when it does come out. But for some reason I decided to read that one post about it, and the article has given me this urge to pre-order it. I guess what im trying to say is that your article was great, and now I'm going to rush out and order it ASAP.

                        P.S

anyone who knows if or where I can preoder it. Send an email to jstalker@nrgservers.net.

                        thank you

good comments rizzuh. there's a lot of 20/20 hindsight with this game, as if following up the worlds most popular multiplayer game would have ever been an easy task. I think Valve clearly took responsibility for the product after the rash of developers, whether or not it was their fault in the first place, and pretty much did what the community was demanding. They didn't have to, but they did.

I would appeal to ritual to release their skins, if only to disprove what valve has stated about them being "buggy" (is that how it was stated?)

EDIT: This is what they said about the models on the ritualistic site:

"According to Valve, they were unable to get those models to work correctly. This seems strange, considering the team at Ritual was playing vanilla CS using those models several months ago. Ironically, Counter-Strike Xbox will still feature those apparently broken models."

                            Strange indeed, if true.

Yeah, and another thing, don't blame Valve for this. They are trying to make Condition Zero as best as possible, no matter how long or how hard it's going to take. Turtle Rock Studios' version must have been incredible for it to go gold that fast, unlike Gearbox and Ritual, which took them over 2 years.
