    CAL-i Season 9 Week 7:2 Results :: de_comrade

Yesterday's CAL-i matches ended another exciting week of competitive play. Teams defied predictions and took their matches to new levels. Eminence was unfortunately one of the teams that took the meaning of "a new level" to mean losing almost every round. Click below for the results of all of Thursday's matches, including commentary.[break="click for match results, sans Vince"]3D over shock - (19-5) (9-3 3D as T)(10-2 3D as CT)

Wow. With the way shock has been playing lately I don't think anyone expected such a huge blowout. 3D just chopped them up into little pieces and spit them out. In the last round of the match, the last two people alive were Boms (of 3D) and Projekte (of shock). One of them got knifed and it wasn't Boms.

TSG over zEx - (16-8) (7-5 TSG as T)(9-3 TSG as CT)

TSG rolls over another clan, and this time it was personal. Might as well have called this one zEx vs. zEx, because for most members of TSG the previous clan they were in was zEx.

    e7 over 3DO - (16-8) (6-6 e7 as CT)(10-2 e7 as T)

CPL surprise team vs. CAL surprise team. e7 looks like they're going to make playoffs and perhaps they can repeat their success at CPL in the online version of the league.

    TEC over u5 - (16-8) (7-5 TEC as CT)(9-3 TEC as T)

TEC once again shows their strength, giving u5 their second loss in a row. Fortunately for u5, that's the last time they're going to have to play comrade this season and they should be gathering some wins next week.

    Rival over EG - (16-8) (5-7 Rival as CT)(11-1 Rival as T)

EG had a very strong performance recently at WCG and to lose like this must be a little embarrassing, especially since EG only got one round on the advantaged CT side of this map. Hopefully for EG, it's a delayed case of jet lag.

    rdw over LaR - (13-11) (7-5 RDW as CT)(6-6 RDW as T)

On the T side, all rdw had to do was break even to win this. Canadian team LaR didn't have the teamwork that rdw possessed last night, and that ultimately led to their loss.

Cc over Gamewyze - (15-9) (11-1 Cc as T)(4-8 Cc as CT)

GameWyze has turned it down a notch for comrade, it seems. Losing to Cc and almost losing to hs in the same week is not up to par for GW. Cc and GW now have even records, but on most other maps GW probably could have taken this match with ease.

sR ties xeno - (15-15) (6-6 sR as T) (6-6 sR as CT) (3-3 in OT)

    TAU over nerve - (14-10) (5-7 TAU as CT)(9-3 TAU as T)

A little too close of a match, considering the teams. Nerve took out Eminence 24-0 on Monday and it's possible they were feeling they could pull off another win.

    Agent over WEW - (18-6) (9-3 Agent as CT)(9-3 Agent as T)

Agent appears to be one of the most random teams in CAL. They lose to eminence and TSO and win against zEx and rdw. If Agent can gain some stability they will be able to make playoffs this season.

SYB over hs - (14-10) (6-6 SYB as T)(8-4 SYB as CT)

Again, hs almost pulls an upset. Too bad for hs, though, because almost just doesn't cut it. SYB wins their sixth match in a row and looks like a contender for playoffs.

Deadzone over mV - (16-8) (9-3 DZ as T)(7-5 DZ as CT)

Barring DZ's loss to ICE on Monday, they have been playing very well lately. DZ wouldn't allow mV to stop them and suffer a repeat of their loss to ICE. There's always next week, mV.

TSO over LgD - (13-11) (6-6 TSO as T)(7-5 TSO as CT)

Two lower-tier CAL-i clans face off and TSO manages to get two rounds on LgD to win. That's right, folks, TSO won. Believe it.

ICE over Eminence - (23-1) (11-1 ICE as T)(12-0 ICE as CT)

Scores like these make you wonder if the one round lost for ICE was given out of pity. Regardless, Eminence has been doing extremely bad lately. Their four most recent games have all been losses, and the scores were: 1-23, 0-24, 2-22, 3-21. When nerve beats a team 24-0 you have to stop and think for a minute. Eminence played moderately well for the first half of the season, even managing to tie shock in one game, but everything has gone downhill after that.
