I'm pretty sure they still have their files, they just have to re-write them so they aren't the same thing this guy leaked (since knowing the source code of a program gives you a lot of power over it). Then again, nothing's been said to discount what you're suggesting...
Man this is crazy. So from what I'm hearing, this hacker person actually "stole" all the stuff, and Valve doesn't have the source codes/files to certain things anymore? That's too bad, but if they really don't have some of the stuff, why didn't they backup the stuff? Even at my own school, we back up the server every week.
But as for CS in HL2, that sounds exciting.

I'll join the rest of the "captain obvious" crowd and say that this sucks.
I would have been really pleasantly surprised had I been able to replay Half-Life on Source after I bought hl2. Or however the hell they were planning on pulling that off.
I'm starting to feel really bad for VALVe. This is their livelihood.Comment

They still have all the code. Even if the hacker had moved the content off the servers, as opposed to copying, Valve make nightly backups and have numerous off-site backups.

Also, wasn't the HL1 on the Source engine thing common knowledge?Comment

Ok, from what I was hearing, it sounded like they lost the code, especially when the game was delayed. Thanks.
