So this is Source, from 9/19. Wow. That's pretty incredible.

For shame, gabe. You worked at Microsoft. You know better than to leave your computers vulnerable.

If you didn't, you do now.

I know what it is like to be at a company while/after a break-in. It sucks so much. So many radical things happen. People (I had the pleasure of working with non-computer people) freak the hell out. Shit hits the fan. People lose jobs. [New] System Administrators get hired.

i'm sorry to say this but this leak was caused by valve....

"Around 9/19 someone made a copy of the HL-2 source tree."

nobody outside your office should have access to your network!

the real question is, why on earth did they have anything even remotely related to hl2 source code on any machine that was connected to the internet? Morons. Sorry, but you got what you deserve for being so careless.

Security through Obsecurity does not work.

Hell, that theory there caused the souce code to be stolen. ( OE )

On a side note, why the hell was a box with the entire source connected to the internet in any way, shape, or form.

Quit blaming valve for everything you numb nuts, you of all people should know theres always a go around to everything in computers. So they got hacked and screwed out of of their source code, i doubt it'll slow down development. But i say we find the bastards, hang them by their nuts, and poor honey on their head near a fire-ant hill.

It's just the c++ code for the physics engine. It does make a cstrike and a tf2 folder on compile, but of course, they are going to use Source when it comes out. Nobody can play the game from what was released. Any game from that matter. It really just hurts the licensing of Source, as now everybody has it and some hack can pawn it off real cheap (or at least base what he does off of it).
