    CAL-i Season 9 Week 4:2 :: de_cpl_fire

    Week 4 ends tonight with the second 1.6 match of the season. Teams earlier this week certainly took full use of the new rifles - the Galil and FAMAS - and used the MP5 less, which means 55% of you guessed wrong.

    TSG plays Echo 7 today, which should be an interesting match seeing how TSG’s new lineup unexpectedly lost to Shock on Tuesday, and e7 did pretty well against 3D. Fire isn’t a very strong map for TSG, says Sunman, but hopefully they got some much needed practice Tuesday to put up some good competition for e7.

    United 5 was set to play Green Berets tonight, but it appears all of the members from GB’s team have disappeared. No information yet as to why or how this happened. Update: According to their channel topic, GB is calling it quits for CS.

    Shock and GameWyze will not be playing tonight, as Shock already reported a forfeit win over GW.

    Sublyme has done match predictions below.[break="click for match info & predictions"]Rival (6-1) vs. SYB (3-3)

    Rival is currently one of the strongest teams in North America. Former CAL-i champions, they've proved they can hang with the top, especially given their current record. SYB has picked up a few games but it's pretty easy to guess the winner of this game based on record alone.

    Prediction: Rival -over- SYB :: 16-8

    3DO (5-1) vs. WEW (2-5)

    The upstarts vs the old school. WEW has lost much of it's firepower since last season, while 3DO are the new kids on the block. At 5-1 they certainly aren't a pushover, but one has to wonder if WEW is going to break out of it's hibernation?

    Prediction: 3DO -over- WEW :: 14-10

    Agent (2-5) vs. LgD (4-3)

    Agent so far has triumphed over rdw and newcomers malicious vengeance while falling to everyone else. Vets LgD have managed to keep a positive record so far, especially considering they upset the Green Berets. If Agent is planning a comeback for the season, this one better be it. But my gut instinct? LgD takes this one

    Prediction: LgD -over- Agent :: 16-8

    TSG (5-2) vs. e7 (4-3)

    TSG is arguably one of the strongest teams around right now, given their powerful roster. e7 just dropped one of their starters in beerz, but it will only serve them better in the long run as he failed to showup to practices and matches. I'm siding with TSG for this game however, as e7 still needs to work out their 5th.

    Prediction: TSG -over- e7 :: 15-9

    MV (3-4) vs. hs (1-6)

    Malicious Vengeance hasn't been doing too horribly for their first CAL-i season, going just below .500; meanwhile, hicks with sticks is in about their 3rd CAL-i season and just isn't performing very well. With their only victory being a forfeit win, don't expect hs to pickup a win here.

    Prediction: MV -over- hs :: 17-7

    Xeno (3-4) vs. rdw (3-4)

    Both teams aren't performing "up to expectations" right now, given xeno's last CAL-i season and rdw's CPL finish. Both at 3-4, this will decide who is going to hover at .500. As well as rdw performs, I'm siding with Xeno here, who looks to be getting back on their feet.

    Prediction: Xeno -over- rdw :: 14-10

    TEC (5-2) vs. TAU (3-4)

    Prediction: I'm honestly surprised TEC is doing so well this season, as they've had more roster shakeups than anyone I can think of. TAU on the other hand was just destroyed by United 5. Think that says anything for their fire strategies? I do.

    Prediction: TEC -over- TAU :: 15-9

    zEx (4-3) vs. Eminence (4-2-1)

    The new zEx was quite a success at first, but just haven't been performing up to "zEx" standards in their past few matches. Rest assured, however, that they'll have a good shot at coming back with this game.

    Prediction: zEx -over- Eminence :: 15-9

    3D (7-0) vs. Murk (3-4)

    3D is the only undefeated team right now that isn't a moveup. With their long-standing stability and notoriety, it would be a crime to predict against them. I feel 3D will take this game, but if they had a certain team to lose against, it would probably be MurK. MurK, iceland's best cs team, has been known to pull upsets in the past, and I can see it happening again. I'm taking the safe bet though.

    Prediction: 3D -over- MurK :: 14-10

    Nerve (2-5) vs. EG (5-2)

    I'm honestly surprised Nerve is still hanging around CAL-i. EG have been strong canadian performers for many seasons now, despite their roster shakeups. It's a matchup of the two canadian teams tonight, and I'm throwing the weight into EG's corner.

    Prediction: EG -over- Nerve :: 15-9

    ICE (4-3) vs. LaR (3-4)

    Does any team change their name more often in CAL-i than ICE?

    ...

    No, didn't think so. They were a consistent performer last season as J1N though, so we'll see if they have what it takes to mount an offense as the season comes to a midpoint.

    Prediction: ICE -over- LaR :: 14-10

    Cc (2-5) vs. TSO (2-5)

    I'd like to be a fan for a second. GO TSO! I think everyone has been waiting for TSO to mount a comeback for seasons now, and I would love for it to start now. How long have I been saying this though? Either way Cc isn't back to their former self yet, and I'm going to hand this in a close one to TSO.

    Prediction: TSO -over- Cc :: 14-10

    u5 (5-0) vs. GB (3-4)

    Green Berets broke up.

    Result: u5 -over- GB :: 13-0 (Forfeit)

    BiO (1-6) vs. DZ (2-5)

    I hope I wasn't the only one surprised when BiO won their last game over Agent. DeadZone has managed to show they have the ability to win by taking out the new zEx, but that's up to an entire debate. BiO is fresh off a win, so can they take another? I wouldn't doubt it.

    Prediction: BiO -over- DZ :: 14-10

              its so hard to get into a team for online gaming, they only last for a season before they become completely different. im still gonna go with my murk boys though, just cause iceland is cool.

                They've been know as ICE for a while now, why just notice it? And didn't they only change their name from j1n to ICE?

                  By the way, does anybody know any sites to download the newest version of the maps used in leagues like CAL and CPL?

                      no HLTV available for 1.6 yet. They have not updated it yet.

                        Can you just not view live HLTV? There was GameDaemons HLTV in my CAL match Tuesday and my clanmate has the demo...

                          there is no way to view hltv (as gotfrag reported a while back). Seeing as it is required for matches, there has to be a way to record HLTV demos... Or at least that's the last I've heard.
