one thing i don't understand, is why its such a big deal? leave it in, if someone exploits, ban them from the league. bingo, problem solved. it brings a fresh style to the leagues that have been long dominated by awp/deagle/m4/ak.

goddamn clanners and their fear of change. if it scares you that much, perhaps you should just lock yourselves in your room and unplug your computer.

you people bitched about 1.4 when it changed the jumping. don't like it? quit. get over it. life goes on.

Right on GrimmyD. I am so glad that I stopped clanning a long time ago. It was fun but people take it way to seriously.

Also it is not that hard to notice the exploit when spectating the suspect. All you have to do is watch which hand his knife is in when he buys the shield because upon trying the exploit his gun will be in the opposite hand. I have seen this multiple times knife right hand, buy shield and gun open shield gun in left hand. Ends up being the last person standing and with 100 hp.

Grimmy I do not think you understand the politics of leagues. When playing in a match the first thing I would do when I saw someone with a shield is think exploit. If we lost that match I would think the shield was part of it and I would naturally dispute. Think about how many teams there are in CAL and UGS and think of how many admins there are. Do you know how many demos there would be to review if the shield was put in place. You're arguement is flawed about it's in the game use it. Silent Planting is in the game yet it's banned. Why? Because it gives an unfair advantage that was not meant to be put into the game. The shield will most likely be in both leagues when the Shield IS fixed. Leagues will play 1.6 to the fullest they can but they do not want to deal with all the exploit disputes. I suggest some of you think a little more about what you're saying.

well yes , valve has fixed some bugs as far as most of us can see they are these.

              - Muzzle Flash Not Showing

              - Certain No-Hit Exploits

              More bugs need fixing

              - Shield still displayed in wrong hand when in view modes

                Vapor's got a excellent point.

Do you know how many demos CAL admins have to go over just for disputes where clans are saying the other side cheated? Add in the Shield, you can imagine that they'd have to spend double or even triple the amount of time spent on reviewing demos. Slow down the dispute process, and there would be a lot of PO'ed clans.

If it's still glitched, it shouldn't be used. I still don't understand how Valve didn't catch this during the "beta" process.

                  Good.

I'm glad CAL came to their senses. I think this is a good indication of how the entire community feels about the shield. Valve would do well to talk a hint and rebalance the shield.

I personally feel the shield would be completely and utterly fine for any amount of play if the glitches were gone.

One major glitch that most people don't realize is the reload glitch. If you fire off your clip, and close your shield, you get full protection from the front as you reload. Practically everyone does this, whether they're trying for the glitch or not, it's just common sense. Try reloading manually in front of an enemy to see how much protection you are SUPPOSED to get (practically none). When you watch someone reloading with a shield, they aren't even holding it in front of them anymore. This is supposed to be your opportunity to shoot them.

This one glitch being fixed will completely balance the shield, and when all the other glitches are gone it will be a completely un-used piece of crap, that newbies can't use effectively at all. But it will still be an alternative for anyone who has the skill to use it effectively (especially as part of a team). Once the glitches are gone, it'll be part of the game, and any leagues will be able to use it.

There were 4 seperate methods for the shield blocking exploit that were definately fixed during the beta and with the latest Steam update. Tried them out on some updated pub servers and none of the methods initiated the bug. How can they claim that all of the exploit methods are still present? Perhaps they should explain what their "extensive testing" entailed, unless some might think that they are banning the shield due to their players whining.

I'm glad to hear about the shield ban, that thing was pissin me off after a while. Found out the best way to take out people with shields though. If you rush them with a p90 and run into them, I always seem to get a HS doing this. I just hope they fix the shield for pub play though, the bugs are getting annoying. I'm playing on no shield servers most of the time though so I'm good.

The m4a1 in real life can't even penetrate a treated piece of lumber, I don't think it's going to be passing through a metal shield any time soon.
that maybe true, but in the CS world the M4 will go through a door, or a floor, or a brick wall or 2 players wearing Kevlar, so it's illogical for it not to penetrate the ballistic shield. same thing can be said for the AWP. think about it, you can shoot through the APC in militia but not through the shield. the movement speed of a deployed shielder seems a bit fast compared to having a AWP out. i think restricting the shield to CS maps is a good idea. that would upset the current weapon balance the least and encourage using the shield in a realistic way. currently pubbing with the shield is a nightmare: entire teams of magical trashcan lid packing CTs deagling everyone in sight.

That because they don't like the fact that, they can be showing their side a little bit and you shoot and the shield still blocks it.

yeah, i thought the shield would be a good idea...

that is until i played with it. there are just too many bugs and exploits for it to be used in a fair way, VALVe should have waited to release the shield, and it wouldn't have been a big deal with steam being able to update so much.

accessing the CAL page on the shield ban causes my internet explorer to crash all the time.

i bet its all those shitty flash animation adverts on the site.
