why is that silly? It's steam. *Not* releasing it is silly. Updates are supposed to be small, seamless, and invisible, no? Just do it. That's one of the reasons steam exists, so you can just release something small or big whenever it's done.

I thought the whole point of steam was the transparent distribution of small updates? ie. an updated version of cbble :p

The reason he named cobble de_cbble is because he was observing the 8.3 standard. Remember the game is 5 years old, when it first came out it's possible that maps needed to follow the old standard set by DOS where any file name consisted of 8 characters, a dot, then a 3 character extension.

Leave David alone guys, I'm sure they're trying to fix it. Just chill. And I played Cobble last night on a server at about 6pm, and it had all the new textures and everything. So I dunno what's up.. ?

How do you know which server has updated and which had not?

Updated fine with me. In a nutshell now. Steam runs great, starts up fine, no problem with Ram, no problem with Shield (Heck I die quick enough with one!!!!), friends works great - you should see how many friends I have =) new guns are not "that" bad, whats the whinging about?



1.6is far better than 1.5. Shield almost negates those who like to run around with an awp for 10 odd rounds, I'm sure everyone has always complained about the git with the AWP camping his little butt in an unencounterable (Check the dictionary corner and has a lovely high score.



I have a 2mb cable line, ATI 9700 pro, xp200+ 1gb Ram and run my res @ 1792 X 1344 32 bit colour and get 100fps ALL the time. AND I have NO problems with the game.



Steam allows you to keep track of all your friends, spectate games, refresh server lists quicker, better graphics and u can even play around with skins if it flicks your bean.



Stop whinging, live with it and if you don't like it find something else to play. Personally I'm sick of reading "boo Steam, Boo Valve, Boo CS" posts.

that makes no sense, i mean, isn't that what Steam was designed for? seamless updates on the go, no need to wait for the next 'big' version to fix small bugs. why can't they just release the map whenever they want? i think they can, it's just that they're busy working on other things right now to worry about a little map update (which could take more of their time if something goes wrong, etc.).



at least i hope so... otherwise it defeats the purpose of Steam.

um for whoever said it was gay of valve to have folks restart their servers.....do you have rcon on a server at al? do you ko what it takes to restart a server? its very obvious you dont.



hlds restarts servers automaticlaly if you ever send a "quit" command. and its done allll the time. and hlds usually starts up back in under 30 seconds...so - wtf are you complaining about?



its peeps like you i cannot stand, complaining for hte sake of whining and jumping on i hate valve bandwagons. servers restarts are commonplace and simple and easy to do. admins or any player with rcon can do it. i did it last night after my match, no biggie.
