It's called verification, hot shot. The game couldn't be activated without a unique ID number generated by Valve. Dont start with the hacker shit either. Anybody who is enough of a dickhead to hack a game that would come off a duplicate CD is enough of a dickhead to hack a P2P version. They just wouldnt be able to play any of the HL2 supported mods over the internet. Think first, then cuss.

I hope that they take this time to improve HL2's stats when being run on NVIDIA cards. Most of the systems that I sell and run are using NVIDIA cards, but by the time it comes out, I'll probably be running ATI and have a decent amount of ATI cards so that it won't make a difference if they don't.

I keep hearing that people are building whole new computers to play this game and all we have so far are trailers and screenshots. I'm not buying shit for this game until it comes out, after the Steam incident my trust in Valve has somewhat decreased and I'm not sure about them anymore. From what I've seen it looks amazing but I'm not blowing over 1 grand to get a rig that will play a game Valve is realeasing again.

It runs alright on nvidia cards afaik. There were just a few minor problems with AA before, which were present in a large proportion of DX9 games, but thats all been sorted out.



Btw, can someone please explain to me by what they meant by 'holiday'? Would I be right in thinking this is halloween, or Christmas? Please for the love of cheese be halloween.

Why can't they just put the "HL2 Steam buying" bussiness on hold & release it by ordinary means first? It's not like they will lose a lot of money 'cause there probably won't be that many people buying it through Steam anyway. Right?
