CAL OKs Shield

Frank Nuccio has ruled that CAL will allow the use of the riot shield once league play resumes two weeks from today.



The riot shield has been exploited in ways that allow users to enjoy the protection of the riot shield, whilst still being able to shoot with their pistol. CAL, however, is betting that VALVe can fix this issue via Steam before league play resumes.



The primary bonus of Steam compared to traditional roll-outs is that Steam installations can be updated on the fly. This functionality allows VALVe to tune the gameplay, fix bugs, and distribute new features without doing a full-scale release.



UGS, another North American league, has banned the use of the riot shield in its divisions. UGS uses maxrounds 15 rules, whilst the more popular CAL uses maxrounds 12.



If you have not yet upgraded to Counter-Strike 1.6 via Steam, it's time to do so!

IM going to be most interested not in CT strats..but in Terrorists strats. Whoever will be able to come up with the best counter-shield strats will most likely prevail..if not at least for the time being

If Valve could care less they wouldn't have fixed the three shield exploits and the bullet penetration strafe bug during the beta.

The shield will allow teams to develop a whole new tactics based on covering teammates. That's just nice :) !

Talk about creating an unbalanced playing field. Nothing like making it so that 2 ppl with a shield can take on a whole team since Ts keep getting shafted (heck, they even nerfed the AK47. Thankfully we have the Galil now, so we can be newb like M4)



As for VALVe fixing the exploits, won't happen. I've was playing 1.6 beta since it started and every version they said they fixed it, yet, what they fixed was questionable. Its still very easy to exploit the shield by allowing you to fire and not get hit. Another retarded thing is that CTs can defuse with shield armed, make it much easier to defuse than ever.



If I can't plant while armed, then they shouldn't defuse it while armed. It should offer zero protection when unarmed, too.

ok ppl bash valve all the time if you dont like it why the hell are you still playing the game and visiting cs fan sites if they didnt care would the even update at all? would the try to stop cheaters? answer me that.
