No, I know what wide screen is. The problem is missing around 40 pixels on the diameter. Not the height. Things are sorta squished. It's hard to explain.

9500 has 8 pipelines, that's why it's a bit faster, but not much.. And it's the same issue as with the 9700, it's not produced anymore, so I have to check if I can still order it.. If these benchmark results by Valve are correct (and why shouldn't they be?) I'll most likely settle for a 9600 PRO.. But I still have a couple of weeks to decide, and I'm sure more info on this all will emerge..

Also you can get a Visiontek XTacy 9800 Pro from compusa for $300 after rebate.



And an overclocked 9700 pro/non-pro will beat ANY 9600 pro no matter how far you push it.

#30: Probably because when your monitor switches resolutions to play the video, it also changes the refresh rate. Switching the refresh rate means you have to readjust your monitor to fit the screen size :)



Could very well be what's causing it.



The Bink videos are 1024x768. Switch your monitor to that res and see if you still get the distortion.

Someone teach me how to overclock my ATI 9700 Pro. It's the original boxed card, no 3rd party using the core. I'm just scared of O/Cing because I can't afford to fuck up hardware just because I wanted to use it at speeds it's not originally designed for..

hmm, maybe u have an LCD monitor (like myself :P ) and have stretching off? cuz it runs in 1024x768 afaik.

Interestingly enoughmy resolution is 1024x768. This also happens in games when I try to play on anything lower than 800x600. I'm guessing its an issue with my videocard.

If you've never o/c'd before I'd rather not tell you from scratch because it's an art, not a science.
