That looks AMAZING!!!! No wonder you'll only get 60fps at 1024x768 high detail on a 9800PRO in HL2.. And they say HL2 will run on a 700Mhz, 128MB & TNT2 machine?!? LOL!! Yeah, if you want to play with 10 fps at 640x480 with all details off that is.. :P

heh, I have a 9600 pro hopefully it will run at... say... 40-50fps in fairly good quality, 1024x768.

#22.. Yeah, according to the first HL2 benchmark by Valve a ATi 9600 PRO does pretty good aswell (48fps at 1024x768 high quality).. I'm thinking of buying one now, since the 9800 is still a bit to expensive for me.. Valve also says the 9600 PRO offers most performance for it's price by far.. The Hercules one looks nice with the blue led fan..



Nvidia cards got crushed again, with the 9600 PRO outperforming the FX5900 ULTRA by far in DX9.. It's a pretty sad story for Nvidia and it's users.. I still have a GF4mx460 atm, but no way I'm buying a FX card for HL2 now..

For the price of the hercules 9600 pro you might as well just get a powercolor 9700np and overclock it.



The 9600 pro only has 4 pixel pipelines whereas the 9700 has 8 and will far outperform it. I had my 9700 up to 419/322 core/mem with a new heatsink ( http://www.jaguarfx.net/radeon/ ).

#27.. I get my cards at reseller price, and they don't have the 9700 anymore, so I have to go for the 9600 or 9800.. Btw, I also read that the newer R350 core used on the 9600 & 9800 had even better DX9 performance then the R300 core used on the 9500 & 9700, so I think the 9600 is not to bad, even if it has only 4 pipelines.. Offcourse I would like to have a 9800, but that's twice the price of a 9600, and the benchmark by Valve showed the difference was only 12 fps.. The 9600 PRO has the best fps/$ ratio by far.. Even at resell price a 9800 PRO is expensive with $330,--, so I go for a 9600 PRO for $175,--..
