    but think about this:

doesnt the PS2 have only 24MB RAM? including video RAM!

how the hell could it do more than 10fps in HL2?

i know its dedicated but it doesnt even come close to half the min PC requirements!

//you know, thhe funny thing is the only reason i got a next gen console, a gamecube, was because i saw from the E3 demo of that awesome 3d zelda game with bump mapped surrounding and tons of polies

boy, did i ever get ripped off, have you played celda? boring and monotonous is the name of that game, not to mention shitty graphics

the moral: NEVER, EVER, EVER, BUY SOMETHING THAT HAS FANBOYS THAT LOVE IT!!! that is a sign that the conpany that makes it has resorted to forced brand loyalty, not a pretty thing from a psycological point of view//

I'll trade you, do you have the gun controller thing? I hate my PS2, I only use my XBox if I even use that. I'll just buy HL2 for PC.
I have TWO guns . A ugly orange one, and the standard grey one. You'll seriously trade me? :P

      Games I got:

      Super Mario Bros.

      Duck Hunt.

      Wild West Shooting.

      Dick Tracy.

      Some obsolete motorcycle game.

ok people the console wars are pointless...

different consoles are designed for differient purposes...

if you wanna play really shitty rpgs buy a cube.

if you want outdated action games marketed to an underaged audience go ps2.

if you want a superior system specs wise that lacks any good games, go xbox.

if you want the best system ever shoot for the original nintendo system.

but overall the best video game platform ever is the pc.

        thank you.

consoles dont work like PCs do. i think that should be obvious. they have a completely different architecture. pipelines and buses in something like a PS2 will be massively parallel. not to mention the way the ps2 architecture utilises memory and cache. another thing is the ps2's EE cpu (emotion engine) can execute 128-bit instructions, unlike the p4/p3 (woteva) can only handle 32-bit chunks at a time. the EE cpu runs at 300mhz, which might seem low to joe average, but clock speed doesnt really translate into performance directly. add to this that the EE is a RISC cpu, without going into geeky detail, RISC cpus are a lot faster for doing limited tasks, PS2 = only play games. intel/amd cpus are ALMOST RISC based, but not quite.

add to this, max normal TV resolution (not HDTV) is 525 horizontal lines (NTSC) and 625 lines (PAL/SECAM). which in computer terms translates roughly in 640x480 for NTSC and 800x600 for PAL.

also the max frame rate that can be seen on normal tvs (not talking abt plasma or high refresh tvs) is 60fps for NTSC and 50fps for PAL, frame for both are of course interlaced (unless u have plasma or high refresh tvs).

so running CS at 640x480 at 60fps (or 800x600 at 50fps) isnt really THAT difficult for the ps2 hardware.
