Still, you can't beat the UT netcode.

Tribes 2 has the most incredible net code I've ever seen. The games are massive, yet friends of mine can play flawlessly on dial up with 40+ other people in the game.

You know actually I don't think having 56k is much of a problem. I usually get 200-240 ping and I can own most broadband players I go up against. I saw a guy today on a server complaining about his ping (which was about 40) claiming it was way too high and that he was 'lagging'. Then he sees me with 200 or so ping, and asks everyone to vote-kick me 'cause I was "lagging him down". stupid n00b......

I tried the mod and pld it 4 about an hour. It was really great fun :) It's much more like the older versions of CS than CS-Classic is. Download this now, we need more people and servers.

well having been pretty good on 56k and now cable; i can safely say that cable makes a huge difference, people who're good on 56k pwn on cable (yay).

that in mind, I can tell the difference between 20, 40 and 80. i guess when youre on 56k you dont care. strangely enough I find i play best on 100ish ping though.. maybe netcode loves me.



incidentally if anyone wants me to write a speech and give me money for it, i can actually be reasonably comprehensible when needed. like money is nice. yay. stay tuned for my next rant; probably about retarded americans. sorry about the stereotype, but i've yet to see much evidence to the contrary, having spent about... a sixth of my life there. or those fscking facist feminists. or retarded american facist feminists. enough to make you break out in hives isnt it. chauvanism, feminism. compliment, sexual harrasment. deconstructing the binary opposites provides a viable source of evidence to draw blah blah. im right, and wrong too. but thats the price you pay for being misunderstood. even if it is by retarded americans most of the time :P yeah i couldnt resist it, so shoot me. see you can do that. omg the reason you are "own"ing the broadband players is becuase your ping makes you warp around the screen so much to their good ping that its almost impossible to hit you



200-240 ping IS a problem b/c majority of players have better and dont want to cheaped b/c you run invisible circles around them

Yeah, that's what they all say after I kill four of them in a row using just one TMP clip (which seems to happen alot with me. TMP, Elites, FN 5-7, P90, sg550, UMP and M3 I seem to be godly with, though I can't hit shit with any of the other weapons in CS). You only 'warp' around when you go over the 300 or so ping barrier. Anything less then 250 or so ping, and there is basically no differance. I've played a few times on BroadBand against other 56kers on 230-ish ping, and they don't 'warp' at all. Seems over 300 ping though and then you're buggered. I know another thing that BB players complain about is that we 56kers 'lag out the way', not exactly warping as such, but still our 'lag' is moving us out the way. This too is of course total bollocks, since when we get shot by broadband players, we get pulled back into the postion we were in when they first shot us, and we get stuck there, i.e. you just have to shoot us once to totally freeze us up for enough time to hit us again, and again, and again etc. In other words, one clean shot on us and we're shafted. Cheaky gets......





Sorry, I'm bitter because BT ballsed up the broadband stuff in this area and we still can't get it here.

So why don't pro's get 56k modems then if as you say it's actually better than broadband. You silly little tool! If HPBs are zooming around your scren then sort out your net code settings you laggy sob. The netcode evens up the ping delay between HPB and LPB but a LPB will still have a big advantage. Now a HPB can actually shoot at where a LPB is stood and the bullets will probably hit them istead of hitting the wall metres behind them, of course the LPB still has the advantage of being half a second faster.

I can't get broadband either in my little shitty village. DAMN YOU BT!
