These two guys are idiots. Chateau is a great map!



I've been reading comments about the water noise - as a T, I rush left and shoot out the window on the far left and jump inside. From here I rush up to the second floor and can often kill all the cts that are up there. This strat works well for about 3 rounds, then I switch up.



As a CT I run straight through and shoot out the boards and quick jump down into the water - hiding in the corner next to the rock. T's will usually run right by allowing me to frag several - from here I check t spawn and head to the garden/courtyard bombsite. After they figure that one out I'll often camp up above the column-room bombsite (if your good you know how to get up there). They almost never see me.



I think this map would kick ass for league play as teams can boost several places - rush here or there and it will make for many interesting team strategies. Bottom line: kickass map.

Now Chateau is a beautiful map, but I don't think its good for league play. The only way my team and I can get into B quietly is by getting in the water, and putting someone on someones head, and slowly walking to the stairs. Then we let him jump on the stairs without making any noise.



However, I love how some of you have the balls to say Beavis and Lance suck. Can I see you attend next CPL, can I see you compete in invite?

i don't think they suck... but for one thing i can say.. they seem to lack PR skills, seriously, just because *one* map is not to their like doesn't mean the mapper in question should stop mapping, or remake a map to their explicit taste.



-I've done some maps, and while it's relatively easy to make a good looking map, its all in the layout and the gameplay, thats the hard part



as for the other guy, the slightly more entertaining one to listen to, who says the map is 'retarded', id love to have a talk with him and discuss how a map can be retarded.

Hell, look at what Narby said, that pretty much sums it up. The guy has made maps that are great for clan matches (de_inferno) great for pubs (de_aztec, which is decent for matches too) and fun maps that got cut (cs_thunder) in favor of crappy maps like chateau. I've pretty much opened up worldcraft, tried to make one room, failed, then never touched it again. I have a lot of respect for people who map for anything, but although chateau is pretty, the water is what makes it horrible. It's impossible to rush the right site because of it, the middle is also impossible to rush, and if you go left, you can get 5 guys in the site generally before 1 CT shows up. It's just not a fun map to have a match on. When you're in a CAL-I clan, you just don't think in terms of how good a map looks, or how good it pubs. You think of how well a map plays against another CAL-I clan, and TAU thinks it sucks, as do most of those other CAL-I clans. Hell, 3D didn't even bother to show up for their preseason match. These guys don't ACTUALLY mean the guy should quit mapping, they mean that they're quite enthusiastic in saying that the map is bad for matches.

Chateau is a good looking map, but it plays bad in matches. They definitely were a little harsh on the creator, though.



Either way, I wouldn't consider TAU "pros". They don't win anything big, they hardly travel for events, they don't have the big name sponsors, and they don't have the best players. There's only a few clans who in my opinion are really pros (SK, 3D, 4K, possibly mTw, that one clan from Singapore that came to CPL only to lose and go home).



As far as the water on Chateau goes, it stops a rush, but geeze people.. learn to get out of the water silently and stop whining so damn much.

I'm sure almost none of us have any experience in playing a clanmatch on it, so how can all of you say Chateau is good or bad for leagueplay?



I agree though that looking at it for making tactics the water is a big problem if you want to do a surprise attack somewhere.. But we don't know how it works in practise.. I think it's a good idea to test a map like this on high level leagueplay, it's equal for everybody, so why not.. Playing Dust2, Aztec etc etc gets a bit old imho, just like Dust became old and done for.. Therefor I'm happy a map like Inferno became a regular warmap..



Personally I see the CS 1.6 version of Piranesi as a more serious possible new warmap.. I hope that one gets played once 1.6 is released..

holy shit, freaking gamespy add made this loud ass 'SHINK' noise and i have my speakers up at 100% O_O think i about lost my rectum thar for a second..



and what do you mean get out of the water silently? it makes a sloshing noise which you can't prevent (only way is by getting a ride from a teammate without touching it at all)... reason we whine so much is because de_chateau isn't the funnest map to watch.. spectators need a map where a rush here and there will get their attention and chateau just doesnt do that for me at elast, unless its an A rush.

Abel, no, you can get out of the water silently even if you are already in it. It has to do with being very close to the edge of the water, running but not long enough to make water noise, jumping and crouching, and landing on the ground.



Oh but thanks but being an idiot about it because you're right, there's no way to get out of the water silently.

Frankly, TAU is probably the best clan ever.

I like to make borderline flaming comments against CSN staff. The funny part is that my time at CSN is banned more than it isn't.



It's actually funny how guys like me don't get the hint that certain types of comments will get you banned. You know, like calling rizzuh names. However since I cannot learn from mistakes, and like to complain about the site more than contribute to it with meaningful (or at least non-flaming) posts, I stay banned for long periods of time.
