PCZone sound spot on with there review, even if the game isn't finished for you. CS:CZ was going well until Ritual came in and ruined it by redoing everything the last team had worked on, not only did they take the more team feel out the game, they made it far more like CS Publics are like, which is by far not what you want in a game, having bots calling you newbs its quite frankly a waste of time, just go play online and wait for CS1.6 and you'll get that. Or why not download podbot and change what they say? Even if Valve and Ritual buck up their ideas and do something about it, they will never be able to replace the damage already done. Stick to online, the reason CS is so popular, if you want it offline. Stick to Raven Shield.

Oh also "They're like the BBC and PC Zone is like the Sun or whatever." Think you'll find thats PC Gamer as they have no clue have to rate most games, as have hardly online game support unlike PCZone :)

      Bollocks!

Both mags have been guilty of that. This is not an opportunity to restart that Gamer v Zone argument.

In general, though, Id like to point out that 79% is a good score, not "low". it's 4/5, as near as damnit!

Ha, CVG has been horrible for as long as I remember, which must be 18 years now.
lol I suppose im biased :)

But yeah, 79% isnt *bad* its just not really a 'great' score. I mean i certainly wont be put off buying it, itll add more life to HL again, and a refreshing break from Gordon Freemans (mis)adventures.

I couldn't possibly comment on the American vs. British games media debate, as I have never read a US games mag, but from personal experience alone I would say I trust PCZone's reviews as I've always them to be (more or less) highly accurate in their ratings of games.

To compare it to such trash as The Sun or Mirror, or even referring to it as "tabloid journalism" seems a bit harsh. I get it every month to help me decide what games to buy, and in that respect (with one notable exception being Hidden And Dangerous - didn't like that one at all) so far it hasn't let me down, so in my view it does its job.

Of course the real reason I like PCZone is 'cause the daughter of Terry Pratchett (he da man!) writes for it. She's hot.
