Well, I'm loving the anger. So far I've learn't intelligence is directly related to:

    a)country of origin

    b)How well you can spell

This is a comedy, look at this (I'm not picking on you guys but admit it, it is funny):

Brilliant stuff! I would say what country I'm from but you probably don't know where it is, and I'm afraid to find out what that would mean for my intellect...

Hey, you know what this thread needs. It needs some more British people blindly defending the UK gaming press because they love their country. It's really lacking that.

Yeah, dont believe this review. PC Zone UK doesn't review final versions of the games, and its been proven that. PC Gamer does. Of course, theres gonna be 100s of other mags out there to review it when its finally out.
        Bollocks!

Both mags have been guilty of that. This is not an opportunity to restart that Gamer v Zone argument.

In general, though, Id like to point out that 79% is a good score, not "low". it's 4/5, as near as damnit!

Here's a recent SOFII review from your beloved UK gaming press: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/r/...ews_story.php

Please rationalize this to me. Not only do they praise SoF2's stealth, which was tedious and horrible, but the ONLY criticism is a "lack of direction." Boy, that sure is insightful. They don't hold back anything!
Ha, CVG has been horrible for as long as I remember, which must be 18 years now.

Regarding the reviews, the negative things mentioned in the review are hardly going to get fixed, so I'm going to believe them. It's a bit too late to change the game.

So Ritual may have finished it, but who's taking over now? VALVe? Even though they are trying to finish HL2 for their original release date? Or is someone else finishing it?

It doesn't matter who, because they would have to start from scratch again to improve the game.

Your blindness concerning the flaws of CZ will not stop the game from being an ultimate failure critically and commercially.

What the fuck is wrong with you people? Why does every single topic start off as a sensible and intelligent debate and then turn into a US Euro/Brit slagging match? The fact is the publisher released the game to the UK press for review, so if it gets a bad score they only have them selves to blame. The developers themselves said "US zines will only review gold master Cd's or boxed copies. PC Zone UK reviewed the game based on a late beta (near release) version of the game." Note the "near release" part of that quote. So that suggests that the Beta copy that was reviewed must be pretty close to what the final product will be like. The moral is, if you don't want a bad review in the UK press then ffs don't release it for review till its done.

On a side note this is an international site and as such we all just have to get along, people from all over the world come here to shoot the shit and talk about cs, so please lets just lay off the US vs EURO thing OK?

Lol, look my advice is wait till the Gold is reviewed then make up your own mind, i for one am not going to be influenced by the opinions of one reviewer ... ill wait till the rest of the gaming press review it then decide if i want to buy it or not

I think someone should hypnotise rizzuh and send him on a boat to the middle of the atlantic, and convince him he has no nationality.

That way, when these Euro -vs- US things start, the sides will be a lot fairer.

Ok, it wasn't review of final code but after reading that review they pointed out basic problems with the game, problems that would be there no matter if the code was final or not. Not every problem they mentioned may be valid for the final version, but most of them will.

I tend to prefer the writing style found in the UK press (personal opinion), but reviewing unfinished games is never acceptable - regardless of the country of origin.

There is a difference between flag waving patriotism, and just honest opinion.

Thats a good point, i think the guy reviewed the game based on the product he had to hand and as such gave what he thought was an honest opinion. That is the inherent danger of releasing games for review when they are still at beta. OK the beta was prob released worldwide and the US press chose not to review at that point, but the fact still remains that the Publisher is at fault releasing a unready product for review regardless of whether the press choose to review it or not.

again a valid comment, the Beta reviewed was close to the final product apparently so the probs in the game such as bot AI will be diff to correct before release, I'm not an expert but i suspect that AI is prob a difficult thing to code, even tho its seems to have been done successfully in 1.6

I don't know if ill buy it or not tbh, CS is a team game and playing it alone just don't appeal to me. And if i wanted to practice with Bots Id just use pod bot or the bots that come with 1.6 which imo are the best that have been coded for CS.

I'd just like to say that in my defence of my bad grammar and spelling, plus the many, many typoes I make, I am actually a tad dyslexic, However you do all seem to ba able to understand me anyway, so I'm not quite sure why anyone can bitch about it.

                                Let's end this petty argument!

CZ is mediocre at best, end of story. Ritual failed. Gearbox should have done it, then maybe it would have been finished earlier.
