Those CD's are NOT send for reveiw though, they are sent for preveiw. Unlike a movie you cant just cut and paste some film and do a demo, you actually have to take the time to code and compile one wich is a waste. Instead they send dev builds for reveiwers to PREVIEW, and then eventually they send near gold or gold review copies. These copies seldom vary from the final release except for possible bug fixes. The issue here is some magazine takes a preview disk and passes off their observations as a final product review, in wich case is false. This game could be complete ass but to call it ass on an unfinished copy and SAY it is the final product is wrong.

Yet in your very site it was earlier shown that CS:CZ *was* finished.
HURR HURR, your anecdotal evidence just doesn't matter. Every single UK gaming magazine is tabloid journalism (except nextgen or whatever, if that's still around). I'm sorry if this hurts your feelings or nationalistic pride, but more to the point is the fact that you are defending the practice reviewing unfinished products.
And PCGUK is one of the best gaming mags of the world, not the 'tabloid journalism' you question.Comment

RIZZUH,
I'll tell you why British are more arrogant and cynical. I'm a frenchman and I traveled a lot, and more importantly, lived in Europe and in North America for equal years. In general, I can tell you this: French and british people are very cynical in nature. It's a way of life. We talk like that. Even though it may sound hurtful, it is more honest.
In the US, there is far less cynism, and it is less truthful and more superficial (I don' t want to generalize here, but it is the majority of the case)...Comment

I didn't know that the English speak a different type of English that has many, many words spelled different.
Edit: I'm talking to *vamp* if it isn't obvious. I just don't get how clicking spell check sends you straight to hell.Comment

Keep in mind that from what I've seen so far, that those reviews are off of unfinished products, which is vivendi's fault..
Of course I'm sure the "magazines" should've said "this isn't off the final product.. "
so in essence those shouldn't be "reviews" but "previews" more or less...
Keep in mind tho, these 'reviews' are not the gospel by anymeans, who says that I'll feel the same way about any dumbass who writes a review. Each has his/her own likes/dislikes, so how the hell can someone sit there and say "yep.. that's true, that's true"... unless you like someone to think FOR you..Comment

Okay, this has been bothering for quite some time. When I was reading the article, I kept on seeing an ad for a PS2 game called "World Championship SNOOKER." If any of you polite British can give me any idea as to what the hell SNOOKER is, let me know. (Such an akward name, SNOOKER.)Comment

As pointed out earlier... why is this called a review, and not a preview? The game isn't finished! You can't give the game a rating until it goes gold, so I don't think these "reviews" should be given much attention.
I think what's definitely hurt CS:CZ is the insane amount of delays, it's almost like Duke Nukem Forever at this point...Comment

If the devs did NOT want the game reviewed THEY WOULD NOT HAVE RELEASED THE DISC
See, this is british game mags for you. Unlike most american gaming magazines that always look on the bright side of things, and are almost always positive abotu every up-and-coming game there is, our british magazines are alot more realistic about it, and just plain admit that the game is going to suck. It's been obvious ever since the second devolper change that CS:CZ will suck. Any game that takes this long to make will be perfect in every way with graphics so good that they make FFX-2's graphics look like NES graphics, with sound so good it puts FFVIII to shame, and with gameplay that is so amazingly good that it makes Legend Of Dragoon look like an Ultima game (yes, I'm a fan of RPG games. How could you tell? :p ). Or of course, any game that takes this long to make will be one of the biggest flops on gaming history.
CS:CZ is going to be bad. It's going to be lost beyond hope. Frankly, either they should release it now, make a small ammount of cash from it while some people still think it may be good, then pretend it never happened, or they should just scrap it, admit they fucked up, then pretend it never happened.
Perhaps its because they actually judge games on their playability rather than the hefty check presented to the mag by the devs????
