VAC and WineX

New security modules were released today. Though Eric doesn't allude to any new cheat detections, he does say WineX will work with secure servers.[break="click for the e-mail"]*** This only affects Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat servers. ***



We've updated the public security modules again. Your Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat servers should update themselves automatically.



These security modules should fix the problems WineX clients have been experiencing.



Let me know if you have any problems with the security modules and we'll look into them right away. Thanks.

WineX is a set of libraries to emulate windows applications. WineX is a gamers release of Wine, with support for most directX games also.



Btw, #1 if you dont want to get these notices, just set it in preferences.

Nice Try. WineX is an implementation of the Windows APIs for X11. It doesn't allow you to boot windows, it tries to allow you to run windows native programs. I say try, because it's not great yet.

My old roommate had a goal of getting CS to run under Mandrake. After a week, he got HL running, which was impressive, but it was really stuttery, and he never tried getting CS to work. I can vouch for how hard it is to get CS to work under Wine.



P.S. Wine stands for Wine is not an emulator. Kind of like SinaC.
