OMG wtf is up with the Vash The Stampede pics Jason X?

Okay, back to the topic....I think they released all of these half life 2 vids to make you think that half life 2's release is closer than you think.

Oh, and you can adjust half life 2's quality when you have it to suit the crappy computers most ppl have. ( I have a 128MB video card and a 3.2 gig processor if your wondering.)
Whats up with my Vash Stampede avatars?

I love TRIGUN,,, thats about it...

    lol

Anyway... on Gamesnet - #hl2media and #steam-hangout for some fun, and news when the next media will be available

having watched all the released half life videos, i've discovered i'm worried i'll be horrible at this game.

no FPS i've played has ever forced me to tackle enemies in such a different way. in half life 2 you cant just shoot everything, you have to use the environment (something as simple as a chain link door) and i dont know if i'll be able to adapt to a world where everything could be a potential solution to a problem. the valve guys who played during these demos know what they are doing, they know that if you throw a grenade under the dumpster, that'll work. they know that if you shoot the car, it'll blow up and kill everything. they know that if you close the door, you're safe. i mean -- jesus, all i know how to do is shoot someone in the head.

half life 2 is gonna force us all to think differently when it comes to first person shooters... only the ones who can adapt are gonna beat the game.

      i'm so excited.

I couldn't agree more. You took the words right off of my keyboard and then put them in all lowercase.

I'd bet though, that you can still power your way through the game, it just won't be as fun.

indeed.. its going to be fun to replay the game after you go through it once and try to see if you cant resolve certain problems diffrently, re-explore the environment to see what else can be mooved\destroyed\used to your advantage

its either that... or i keep failing miserably until i can find the way that valve intended that i beat a particular section. i hope its the former.

hmm and simplex, in all the videos, it doesnt seem like gordon has a wealth of ammo on him... but then again we are just seeing out of context gameplay blurbs. anyway -- i'm kinda hoping you can't brute force through it all. there's only so many times you can kill the grunts in half-life rambo style before it gets boring.

It seems like guns alone won't be enough - what else can you use to survive?

I was showing some people down in Hollywood the game last week, and was going through zombie town, showing how I could "Rambo" my way through with guns a-blazin, or I could "MacGyver" my way through by paying attention to the world and being clever (it's easier to be clever when you helped design the level, of course). We're trying pretty hard to reward people for thinking about what's in front of them and the tools the world gives them that could be useful.

There seems to be a sense of a free world, in which you figure your own way out to deal with stuff - or are there pre-set triggers (such as the pipe swinging and knocking everyone out)?

The physics gives you a lot of freedom to approach things your own way, but we also try to insert more discretely authored experiences to give people a sense of "that was cool" without having them feel too much "that was really contrived."

Personally, I like the new pistol Gordon has. It seems more futuristic, therefore fitting in better with the story.

Hey, who doesnt like Vash, the loveable goof hero of Trigun? Lol. Another anime i like is Cowboy Bebop. Yeah. Bebop. Jazz. etc.

Also: Phrozen's avatar is anti-orphy. Hmm, not the first. Not the first.

Also#2: Were all going off topic, for some reason.

                                Windows 98 and later, Pentium-III 800, with a DX-6 level graphics accelerator.
But yeah, you could probably squeeze in a 700MHz, unless they hardcode it in to the game (I HATE THOSE GAMES).
