even better yet:
bind "x" "retry"
and keep hammering that button!

tspoon1066 wrote..wrong, if u bind x retry, and press x, HL will do just that, reconenct to the server. i use F9 for retry. obviously character keys wont work as u said.
........
you're in the console, if you push 'x', it'll just type 'x'

Did rizzuh just sit on that or something?
jismify wrote..Well, on most systems it takes several seconds to start Half-Life up. During that time, someone else may connect. That's the main benefit of CC.
i understand that you can hammer a server from the console, and that is how it is better than hlsw, hlit, hlm, etc, etc...
so. under that logic, it is better to sit, staring at your console for as long as it takes to connect, than it is to do whatever you want while waiting?
with the aforementioned progs, you know from your desktop whether or not the server you are trying to get to is full or not. you never even need to see the console unless you are actually connecting. im not clear how CC is more convenient.

jismify wrote..also, as it is connecting, go to your kitchen, get something to eat. Watch TV or something. Think of it like a program that just types retry for you over and over for as logn as it takes to connect. Meaning you can leave the computer to do something else.
