look, some of the film is true, some of it isnt. who cares if the facts are not EXACTLY FACTS, if what moore is presenting in the movie is ROUGHLY the truth, that suits me. I dont care if he got a few numbers wrong or carefully edited the movie to look more biased than it actually is. and im sure he did do that. if moore is exagerrating the truth, then there is definitely some truth behind his movie. theres no point in showing us oxford dictionary definitions or saying he got his numbers mixed up. point is, moore has a point with his movie, theres no point in denying that.Comment

This is Spinal Tap was a "documentary" about a ficticious heavy metal band. Bowling for Columbine is a "documentary" about a ficticious world constructed by Michael Moore and some clever editing. I really don't understand how people can confuse deliberate and willful lies and the intent to deceive with simple bias.
If I start splicing your sentences together to make you say something you never said, that's willful intent to deceive. It's lying, it's immoral, wrong, and dishonest in every sense of the word, no matter how you look at it.
If I'm making a mystery movie, I can play with the camera scenes to make you think one of the innocent characters might be guilty, just to add to the suspense. If I do the exact same thing but I'm supposedly doing a documentary, it's once more intentionally deceiving your audience.
This isn't to say that there's nothing valid anywhere in the film. It simply means that Michael Moore is a worthless piece of lying shit, and you need to critically analyze anything he puts out as a result. It's a pity, because the film could have had real potential as a thinking film, but instead is lowered to the level of the sensationalist hype media that it claims is so wrong and evil. If you watch it and blindly believe the lies spread throughout, then you're as bad (if not worse) than the supposed fearful and ignorant people it criticizes.Comment

Michael Moore film ¡°Bowling for Columbine¡± is a documentary as stated by Bill Nichols¡¯s ¡°Documentary Modes of Representation,¡± although the film is done in the lowest form of the four modes, the expository mode. Its basically says my voice is law and I control the film. The big difference between the four modes is who is speaking for the film, is it the subjects or is it the filmmakers. Of course Moore¡¯s POV is based firmly on the far left and its no surprise to anyone that he would win an Oscar award, which I truly believe was totally unjustified.
Spoonman you are right about the film being Moore¡¯s interpretation of events, but that is also a form of documentary filming. Moore¡¯s techniques are based on his background as a journalist for the Michigan Voice and Mother Jones which he was the executive editor. Also to say the History Channel isn¡¯t a bias medium for western colonial propaganda then¡¦ open your eyes. I mean do you think history doesn¡¯t differentiate by degrees based on each nation?
Finally Bowling was a big hit because a lot of American¡¯s are looking for an alternative to Fox News, they are sick to dicks with all these republican bullshit coming from Bush¡¯s administration. Instead of hating and saying his film wasn¡¯t a documentary think why it was so well received. Yes we need gun control, yes we need a better foreign policy, yes the poor always get the shaft in the end. I mean the scene with the 6 year old mother going to work by 45 min. bus for work off welfare program has a lot of truth to it.Comment

Just think about the reasoning behind those second ammenment rights, Washington had secured the support of the overmountain folks, the frontiersman, who were getting mighty pissed at the British and the Loyalists, Winning victories and imposing a ban on civilians carrying sidearms, Thinking about it it was actually a sensible idea. After all the so called patriots were merely rebels who should have been put down fast and quickly, the problem was the barborous soldiers of England were not helping to win the hearts and minds war. This is what lost the conflict ultimately. The right to bear arms was a knee jerk reaction to highlight the differences between the USA and Britain. It also enabled you to continue the domination and subjugation of Indian lands, thus allowing your marauding hordes the chance to ever expand westward, stealing the indigenous peoples land wealth and livliehoods.
