Is the $100,000 awarded to just one person?

And also, do they get that really big ass check?

sk will dominate agian, since this cpl they were new and wernt 100%. Now they know each other better, going to practice more and going to dominate again.

No, when they say it's a $100,000 tourny then it's a $100,000 total purse. I'm not sure exactly how it's split up in the CPL, but I know that first place gets $25,000 (like SK.sca did), and each place after that gets succesively lower amounts. Correct me if I'm wrong.

                But wait!

There's still time in which they can split up, and join esu.

Is it just me, or does $25,000 as a 1st place prize money not seem like that much. I know it's a fair bit of money on it's own, but when this is supposed to be the biggest CS Tourney out there, and considering the popularity of CS, it doesn't seem all that much. Especially when it works out to $3-4,000 per person in the team.

If CPL ever truly wants to be a professional league like its name, IMO it'll need higher payouts.

I seem to remember reading a while ago that the CPL was upping its overall payout to around $250,000 some time in the future. I could be wrong, but I swear I remember reading something like that.

But either way, higher payout means that the CPL needs tons more publicity and sponsors. $100,000 isn't really that much prize money when you think about it. But since the CPL is still only known in cyberspace pretty much, they are not going to be able to hand out $1 million worth of prizes like other competitions you see. To do that, they need massive TV deals and a PR team that would equal a movie star's.

But it all comes down to sponsors. It doesn't help any that so many government officials want to kill the video game industry. With the CPL having Counter-Strike as its main game still, they are being passed up by potential sponsors because the game carries a MA-17 rating....Sponsors don't want to have anything to do with something that could potentially ruin their business.

Kudos to Intel, NetFire, Bawls, and all the rest of the sponsors so far for having the balls to help get the CPL into the mainstream of computer gaming.

UT 2003 is one of the events??? wat if it isnt out yet??? and ppl wont have nearly enough time to perfect their tactics/skills/fav maps and weapons etc. only a month or so. especially as epic are changing a lot of the dinamics of the original game.

Since no one will probably be a "seasoned vet" of UT2k3 at the CPL, then the playing field will be level with experience pretty much. But I doubt it cuz the demo has been out a while I believe and you can play it over and over again to become used to the weapons and physics of the game overall.
