Gamers.nu has put up an interview with top UK clan Nocturne. The interview was conducted earlier today by Thorin, right after the news that Finnish clan Cascades joined up as a Finnish division of Nocturne. Thorin speaks with noc|-Rhyzz and with former Noc manager Paul, who recently started his own company helping clans to gain sponsors.
With the current CPL Qualifier situation it appears, to quote a captialistic addage, the rich are getting richer while the poor are getting poorer. Essentially when I-eS know only one team is going to make it to Dallas from a qualifier they just have to LAN for a week solid knowing they will win (in theory) while other clans never get the qualifier win, never get CPL results and thus never get the sponsors as a result they would need to get the qualifier win. noc|-Rhyzz: I don't think this is true in any respect. It takes 1 bad game for a team to lose a match and 1 good game for a team to win a match. The money is a problem though. The smaller teams don't get a look in nowadays, but if you work hard it is possible to prove yourself.
Paul: lol...my view is different...as I said sponsors want successful teams/players, but overall the sponsor wants exposure. You offer them a 2nd rate team with 100,000 visitors on their site and a top team with 10,000 visitors the sponsor will take the lesser team everyday. The team brand is important, but they have to understand what the needs of the sponsor are.
