With the launch of our new PayPal system, there are now a few changes concerning donations and CS-Nationalism (CS-Nationalists are members who paid to get special bonuses, more info).[break="what's this all about?"]First of all, we have separated "donations" from "CS-Nationalist upgrades." A "donation" is a bit of charity. A "CS-Nationalist upgrade" is the purchase of a service. CS-Nationalist upgrades now cost $2.50 for yourself or $3.00 to buy one or for a friend. As per usual, you can donate as little or as much as you'd like, but this will not upgrade your account. The main reason for making a set price for CS-Nationalism was to highlight that it is indeed a separate service. It is unprofessional to say, "give us anything!" We received many high donations, but most were just a dollar -- which was fine, because that was the deal. But a dollar translates to 67 cents and that's not enough to support the site in a meaningful way.
The new PayPal system also improves how we handle Nationalism. First of all, you can upgrade a friend's account. If you'd like to help some of our more cash-challenged comment whores, this might just be the way! Also, accounts are upgraded instantly. That's right, once you pay for an upgrade, it's done.
None of these changes affect current CS-Nationalists.
Update: The surcharge of 50 cents has been removed if you're upgrading a friend's account. It is now $2.50 for both yourself and each of your friends.
