    Auth Down

CS-Nation has learned (doesn't that sound snazzy), that Valve is currently working on their authorization (aka WON.net) servers. They're currently down, so that means no playing CS/HL until they're back up. Hopefully Valve is releasing an update to their anti-cheat as well to combat some recent wall hacks.

Update: They're back up. Your servers might need to be restarted. I recommend that all CS servers restart HLDS.

Update 2: WON East server is still down, but Erik from Valve says it'll be back up quite shortly.

Update 3: All servers are back up. Again, I recommend a restart of HLDS.

I am just releaved that csnation had posted this news update otherwise i would have been lost.

yeah, after all if they are updating some remote service it makes sense to restart the server..

i reboot my computer every time i notice any changes on any websites

One of the servers is still having some trouble. The folks over at WON are working on it as fast as possible right now.

The machine at half-life.east.won.net is the one in question. Should be back up shortly.

                  Sorry for the downtime.

                  Erik

Speaking of HLDS updates and stuff... anyone else had intermittent problems connecting to HL servers the past couple of weeks?

Two weeks ago (weekend), I couldn't play HL on any more than 1 PC on my network without the ping rocketting to 9999 and successive disconnection. By Tuesday it was fine. Last weekend, the same thing, but the ping simply increased to unplayable. Then on Monday it was fixed. Since Thursday however, playing on 2 PCs results in the ping on each fluctuating wildly from 50ms (ISDN! yay!) to around 800ms. There's not packetloss from what I can gather. Using just one PC gives the bog standard ping I'm used to - around 75ms.

I had some guy email me with the same problems 2 weeks ago, but when they were resolved (at the same time they were resolved for me) he told me and hasn't emailed me back since.

It's defeated me. I just wondered if anyone else had suffered the same problem - my neighbours, on the same ISP and same copper I don't think have any problems. I was perhaps thinking it was an HLDS server update/anti-cheat thing, since nothing has changed on all 3 of my machines (certainly nothing on the ISDN hub machine) that I can relate to this.

Yeah I know I should post this in a forum.

You really shouldn't expect much help from here.

I was just playing for like 45 minutes. I'm east.

Edit: Pretend I said it before Erik.
