What's an oxymoron (me = non US/UK, not familiar with grammar terms)? Is it like, a double thing? Or is it like saying "The rock falls down" (which is kind of stupid, since nothing falls UP...). Explain :)

An oxymoron is when you say two statements at once that contradict each other. A popular US example is "military intelligence." In this case, a yank is a northerner and a redneck is a southener. So "redneck yanks" is an oxymoron.

And yes, I very much appreciated the IPs. There were some great games.

A rhetorical figure in which incongruous or contradictory terms are combined, as in a deafening silence and a mournful optimist.

A phrase with two words used together which have, or seem to have, opposite meanings.

                        Eg. "cold heat".

Edit: Oh well, three explanations won't hurt.

My personal favorite is "jumbo shrimp" or "dancing RzE".

Why don't quote another Danny Devito movie?
