Wow, I never thought that'd this clan would be featured on csn (I played with a couple of 'em on their brother server somewhere for a while) then again, some people in the community have raging hormones~



Although publicity is good, I think that, perhaps, people are shedding light on a gaming clan for reasons that don't exactly pertain to counter-strike. Still, a generally insightful interview on balancing normal life with cs.



P.S. What's the name of the brother server that Badgirl and puppy play on? I forgot the i.p.

Seriously though, I can't see how this forming of "girlz clanz" (ugh, I really hate all this substituting "s" for "z" stuff... so hideously kutsey and so not kool) can be of any help at all to female gamers.

If it's gender equality we want, then we need to see girls and boys playing together in servers and clans and all treated equally, with gender not even issue. This forming of "girl only" clans only further widens the gap between the sexes.



I feel the first step is to stop making the distinction between "girl gamers" (even typing that vile phrase makes me feel dirty) and "regular gamers". We would never have definitions like "blonde gamers" or "black gamers" etc., so why should defining a games player according to their sex sound any less ridiculous?



They're not Girl Gamers; they're gamers who incidentally happen to be girls...

The biggest challenge would be getting people to believe that we are in fact, women. After that, it would be proving to people that we can in fact play the games and that we can play just as good if not better then most guys.

We also have to deal with the harassment of being women gamers and being in an all female gaming clan. Unfortunately, it's women and men that give us a hard time about this.

Yikes. That's pretty sad this clan has to deal with this kind of crap. But on the other hand, I agree with you previous posters: by immediately labeling themselves as "girl gamers" and highlighting the fact that they're different, they're already distancing themselves from the community they wish to join and inviting further abuse.



Well if this clan wants to be respected just for being women, then I'll give them that respect as any human being deserves, but that's it. If they want to be respected as gamers or as CS players then they've gotta work for it, not expect the respect to be handed to them because they're women.



However, from what this interview states, this clan seems to be putting forth the effort required to be a serious clan as opposed to being just a group of women gamers who want to make the community take notice that they have different genetalia from most gamers and they still play CS. In my opinion, if they drop the emphasis on their femininity and simply tote themselves as a CS clan, they'd do just fine.

In a perfect world, women wouldn't have anything to prove -- but among the "boys' club" of PC gaming, sometimes they want to stand up and be heard. Nothing wrong with that.



I know women who play C-S get a lot of oohs and ahs from the male community, and this can be a bit discomforting when they just want to play (although, granted, some may actually enjoy the attention -- no different than some men would in a similar situation). However, considering the somewhat juvenile userbase Counter-Strike enjoys, I'm a bit surprised by how well women are received on public servers, no matter how well they play. Where there are generally physical differences that proclude women from competing on the same field as men in physical sports (although I would argue that many WNBA players could hold their own quite well in the NBA -- not to mention the fact that my girlfriend kicks most men's butts in cricket), esports give everyone a unique opportunity to compete on even terms with everyone else, regardless of physical prowess.



I don't see the harm in flaunting your femininity, if that's your thing -- even in Counter-Strike. If us guys treat them as different players because of it, it's our problem, not theirs. It's no different than an Italian clan emphasising their ethnic pride, or a group of ex-Marines advertising the fact.

You know what I don't seem to get is why most gamers have such issues with the fact of how people call themselves something. If you say you're an all female clan, they call you a nazi. You say you're a girl gamer, they peg you as the first A.I. version of Barbie. Why can't you let people play and act as they want. Everyone's entitled to an opinion, but you people talk about how your want so BADLY to have more females play the game, then you insult them because of how they wanna play it.



You make most of the males like myself look bad because you seem to narrowminded as to what life really is. If a woman can be in congress, or can be a be the C.E.O. of one of the largest banks in america, why can't you let them play a FU****G game. You seem to trust them with you money, yet do you bitch on how they sign your check or whatnot? Makes no sense to me that you have to express your negative opinion about something you wish to see more of. If you're trying to run them off I don't think it's gonna work. It was us males that gave them the right to vote, and made them equal.



And what exactly is the damage to girl games, and the gaming community because of who they are.

Here I disagree with you somewhat. Not that it's a pretty chapter in our history in America, but look back at the integration of black men into the military. Often, they were just in support positions, such as cooks and such. In CS, imagine your girl mascots. There were also all-black units and regiments created. And, in CS, I'm sad to say that's about what the equivilent of these girls clans are. I look forward to the day when, like black men in the military now, the ladies will be able to play with us boys with the full respect and honor afforded to them as worthy combatants. It's going to take some time though, unfortunately, to be widespread.

Yes... this is the exact reason I crossed gender boundaries and have spent so many hours perfecting my skills at "Barbie Fashion Designer 2.0" these last few months. The girls just go nuts for me now!



Joking aside, my view is, clans are groups who like to play together, either because they want to win, or because they like to have fun. If a group of girls feels that keeping their clan exclusively female is going to be more fun for them, so be it. And yes, they can flaunt it if they so desire.



However, do so with the realization that when a group of guys comes along and annihilates them, they're going to get razzed about it. It'd be the same way if an all Ex-Marines CS team whupped up on an all Ex-Airforce CS team... you know the Marines would be giving the Airforce guys a hard time for exactly that, being airforce. The "battle of the sexes", often in humor, will continue and be provoked by all female clans, just as it would if you declared a clan to be "male only". It doesn't matter that almost all clans happen to only consist of males... declaring that aspect makes it an issue, and well, if you push an issue, expect to receive flak.



Oh, and just to keep things in perspective... it's not just gender, it's anything that can easily seperate people. Do you for one second believe that an "gay only" clan would not be harrassed as much, if not more, than a girls clan? Girls do take a lot, though (if you're a regular visitor of CSN, you've probably seen a link to the article I wrote a while back on a related subject), and it's really not surprising to me that girls would band together for mutual strength.

Would a gay-only clan be harassed? Probably. Does being homosexual have a single goddamned thing to do with PLAYING the game? No, unless it makes you more prone to carpal tunnel syndrome. The basis for "girl" clans is no less laughable than the basis of a clan for those born under a certain zodiac sign.

Well thanks for all the great comments (about 2) lol. We don't have anything to prove. I pretty much stick to our own server or my husbands server. I get respect there and they don't care that my tag has the word Girlz in it. I honestly do not see the big deal, but to each his own. Stop by our server sometime... some of us are rather... challenging. So, please don't base how good we are on someone who played us a year ago.
