    CPL on CNN

CNN has posted an article titled "Cyberathletes compete for real money" on their online news site. The article contains a brief explanation of the CPL along with the results from the five-day event. Angel Munoz also comments throughout the article. Here's a small preview of the write-up:
Angel Munoz started the CPL five years ago with just 300 people and a $300 grand prize. However, since that time, gaming has grown into a $9-billion-a-year industry.

Now he watches as five-person teams -- mostly young males 17 to 24 years old -- play each other on the PC game "Half-Life: Counterstrike" for a total of $100,000 in cash, with the winner getting $25,000. This year, a team called Schröt Kommando was awarded the top prize.

CNN is better for tv news, but I personally dig MSNBC.com for online news. The CNN site is shabbily designed and updated.

REAL money?!! Why did nobody mention this earlier? I had always assumed they were using monopoly banknotes.

BTW, BBC News is unparalleled, be it on TV (BBC News 24 is awesome), radio or on the web: http://news.bbc.co.uk/ (my home page)

I prefer Fox News. Especially when they make things up, I just love that.

i think the real money comment was kind of lame, poking into the "games are for kids" mentalllity. Oh well.

MSNBC, because of Rick Sanchez, Alex Whitt, and the weird guy with glasses. Online, my homepage is the Reuters News Service.
