Mistar Rizzuh what do you use as your db backend? MySQL? PostgreSQL? Oracle? MSSQL? [to name a few]. I personally favor MySQL and Oracle [oracle has ownage join abilities], but the power in MSSQL isn't that shabby.

I think a real programming language (I mean a language that writes programs) like C++ would be better at that than something written for dynamic webpages.

You can use whatever language you want as long as it can output to files. It's just a matter of writing in the right file format.

more users than comments which is a bit weird.. must be old users but 'cropped' comments

it does say 'over', so there probably is more comments than users

Or maybe it's just that the majority of people frequenting this site aren't so sad so as to regularly post mindless and irrelevant drivel to a load of worthless and pointless comment pages every waking minute of their lonely and miserable lives.

I wouldn't say its worthless, but it is mindless, irrelevent and pointless. Then again, I suppose it is worthless

There's got to be more comments than users, as there's a lot of comment whores here. CNG, SinaC, Gpig20 and I pretty much owned all comments a week or two ago.

if every person had posted one comment there would be more comments than people.. cuz ive posted at least twice..

How about maybe some sort of Suggestion-Box area???? Sounds kindof nice...Something to that effect......No ? Yes ?
You can just e-mail me. A public suggestion box encourages creeping featurism. People want anything that sounds cool, even if it doesn't help the site in any way.

Yes, MySQL. Its integration with PHP made it a logical choice.

Yes, about 5,000 old users were carried over and thousands of comments were never stored. We were running comments for 1.5 years when we switched the site to full PHP.

"Over" means floored to 10. It makes the number sound more impressive.

I'm not too shocked that there are more users than there are comments. User accounts are totally useful without using comments: serverspy, custom news, custom timezones, potd/sotd credits, etc.

I wonder if Valve would be interested in porting Hammer to PHP... it could have a totally web-based interface....

Actually, Radiant is GPL'ed... hmmm... I wonder...

                              Bollocks to it.

                                Johnston, your ideas are brilliant.

port worldcraft to php, then when you compile your map you fuck up the server, along with the 300 other people doing the exact same thing at the exact same time.
